Apple New Patent: IPhone Design Borrows Mac Pro's 3D Built--A Glimpse of What's Inside it

Apple patents are literally everywhere, and fans are only waiting if the prototypes will soon come to life. The latest patent was spotted in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, which shows a potential design for the iPhone incorporating a stylish 3D structure of the Mac Pro.

If you see the appearance of the company's patent, its similarity could be traced back to the third-gen Mac Pro, which debuted in 2019.

At that time, the most notable feature of the Mac Pro was its resemblance with a cheese grater - in the form of a group of ventilation holes that aids it in its cooling mechanism.

Apple dived deeply in its aesthetic, especially its 3D carved sphere that looks like a peculiar blade. As mentioned previously, the mesh design sparked comparison to a cheese grater, and it caught people off guard due to its unusual design.

The new design patent by Apple could share a likeness with the iPhone. It has the potential to transform into one of the greatest revelations when it comes to smartphones since the iPhone 5's appearance wowed people back then.

Patently Apple discovered that the design boasted its 3D mesh placed on a smaller device. It was named "Housing Construction," which appears to be housing for an electronic device, such as an iPhone case.

"The three-dimensional structure can include the body defining a first pattern of first cavities extending into the body from the first surface and the body defining a second pattern of second cavities extending into the body from the second surface," Apple said

The patent filing dated back to mid-April 2020, making it possible that the Cupertino giant might be working on producing it as of writing. However, it's essential to wait for the official announcement.

For the iPhone's rear and sides, the holes were believed to be inspired by Mac Pro's holes, which were created small to suit the smartphone's size.

The feature also avoids tiny items and even your fingers from entering the internal components of the product. Meanwhile, the holes also allow the device to let the free airflow inside, Slash Gear reported on Mar. 31.

When it comes to computers, overheating is a common issue, that is why a cooling mechanism is required for proper ventilation and keeping it running cool. The same thing goes with the handheld equipment, so active cooling is a vital feature to add to the device.

Without this cooling system, the phone's performance would be compromised since the heat makes it slower than usual. Apple's way of addressing the problem is by adding improved GPU, CPU, and other related chips in its device.

While the mesh system provides necessary features for the patent, a user could feel an inconvenience in his/her hand. That explains its resemblance to a cheese grater.

Apple could consider making another design so users could simultaneously enjoy it while feeling no discomfort in the hands.
