Goodbye negative feedbacks, reactions, and cancel culture in YouTube's streaming platform as the company has been working on removing the "dislike" counter and hide it from the public. The company has been working on a separate statistics page for content creators and influencers called "YouTube Studio," which would display everything, particularly the dislikes.
YouTube dislike button
YouTube is among one of the streaming services and social network platforms that has a dislike function for its videos, unlike Twitch which does not have it for its content creators. Also, the only other website with "dislike" is Reddit, but that would soon change as downvoting is to be removed and discouraged from the platform.
According to YouTube via Twitter (@YouTube), the streaming website and application is in-the-works on removing the dislike count on the platform to avoid negative and targeted campaigns against influencers. While the "dislike button" would not completely disappear, it would soon hide the count to avoid negativity on the platform.
YouTube proposed this to be simply moved to a new feature from the company called "YouTube Studio" which would resemble a hub that holds the overall statistics of a content creator in the streaming platform. Here, users can see the number of dislikes, interactions, reach, and other technical information related to streaming.
YouTube Tests Dislike Button, Users May Send Feedback
Selected users were given the chance and opportunity for the new function of YouTube to be tested, and this is what the company aims to debut once it is ready and finalized. According to Google's Support article, user feedbacks are important to the feature's continuation to the mainstream and general public's control.
In this article, users who are part of the program may also submit feedback and comments regarding the removal of the dislike counter, whether agreeing or disagreeing with YouTube's move. This is one way to either halt or support the function to arrive in the platform, especially if this affects a user's experience while on YouTube.
YouTube Studio for Influencers: All-in-one Hub for Statistics
The YouTube Studio hub would be more of a "profile" page for influencers, but it would be displaying different aspects and statistics that are relevant to one's channel, career, and growth on the platform. However, the studio platform would be more than what is initially perceived of it, as it aims to bring a suite for content creators on the platform.
Google and YouTube aims to demote "cancel cutlure" and dragging an influencer with their posted videos on its new feature, but would not necessarily remove the dislike function for viewers and criticism.
