Skullcandy announced the release of the Dime True Wireless Earbuds- the company's affordable option to the true wireless game.
Priced at £30 ($41), the new earbuds are designed to outperform competitors at the same price point.
According to TechBuzz Ireland's report on Tuesday, Mar. 30, the Dime True Wireless Earbuds is now available at Skullcandy's official website and major retailers in the United Kingdom.
Skullcandy's Dime True Wireless Earbuds: Quick Specs
Known for offering some of the best headphones in the market today, users will understandably expect the same with Skullcandy's Dime True Wireless Earbuds.
However, given the earbud's price point, the Skullcandy Dime could be ideal for someone who wants a decent pair of true wireless earbuds on a strict budget.
According to Skullcandy's official page, the Dime offers up to 12 hours of battery life per charge--3.5 hours from the buds and additional 8.5 hours provided by the charging case.
It also offers Bluetooth 5 connectivity for fast pairing times and stable wireless connectivity and volume controls, and a microphone in each bud so users could use either of the buds as a solo.
The ease in connectivity allows for a simplified listening experience, which could serve as a great introduction to those who are new to the true wireless technology.
The Dime's touch-enabled media controls offer users to take calls, adjust volume, change tracks, and activate native voice assistants such as Google and Siri without reaching for their devices.
The earbuds also come with an IPX4 sweat and water resistance rating for users who want to wear them while working out.
Additionally, the Dime's charging case is about the size of a car key fob and is available in four different colors, including the True Black, Dark Blue/Green, Dark Grey, and Light Grey/Blue.
Lastly, the Skullcandy Dime offers users a secure noise-isolating fit to give them the freedom to go about their day without the hassle of checking it every now and then.
Is It Worth Its Price?
On Tuesday, Mar. 30, Techradar published a quick glance on Skullcandy's Dime True Wireless Earbuds, noting that the product is inferior compared to the true wireless earbuds available in the market today.
The article highlighted that Skullcandy's Fearless Use Promise, which gives users the liberty to buy the buds or the case separately, and at a discount, in the event of losing or breaking any component, is offered for every purchase of the Dime.
They also mentioned that the Dime's 12-hour battery life is dwarfed by its competitors, noting that the Apple AirPods can provide up to 24 hours of playback.
Lastly, it is worth noting that Skullcandy's Dime does not have the active noise-cancellation technology but boasts that its noise-isolating design could adequately stop outside noise.
