Xiaomi was initially rumored and surrounded by leaks regarding the venture to create their electric vehicles that would debut by 2023, with several people familiar with the project to release by 2023. The popular smartphone company will partner with Great Wall Motors to provide consultation and manufacture the design from Xiaomi.
Xiaomi Electric Vehicle
The Beijing technology giant started as a smartphone company, evolving its products to consumer electronic tech and accessories such as tablets, earphones, televisions, air purifiers, and electric scooters. Xiaomi has been a massive consumer tech company for several years now, with the company aiming to grow more on potential markets.
The smartphone company is known for being an international icon, where its products are known and used globally, and has recently revealed that it would be making a transition to the electric vehicle industry. Xiaomi was reported to partner with Great Wall Motors from China to manufacture the vehicle and provide engineering consultation for its designs.

Currently, the rumors are just leaks and speculations from the "people familiar with the matter" and no news or confirmation from either Xiaomi or Great Wall Motors was released. CNBC confirmed on Friday, March 26, that this venture could also start by 2023, and release the EV in the same year, bringing the first Xiaomi EV from China to the world.
Xiaomi Electric Vehicle: How Would it Fare?
According to Electrek, the Xiaomi Electric vehicles would have the same marketing and appeal to the public, as it is aimed at the general public and affordability much like its current lineup of consumer tech. Additionally, the initial rumors of the venture already have the company designing the electric vehicles as early as now.
One of the most popular electric vehicle companies, Tesla, is also aiming at the budget and affordable electric vehicle for all branding, which would be a massive competitor of Xiaomi once it releases. Moreover, the Chinese company would have more competition by the time it releases by 2023, due to the arrival of more brands in the scene.
Despite this, Xiaomi is still rumored to debut their EV and would focus its attention and release it to the mainland, where it would probably debut the electric car once production is completed. Right now, there are no announcements or confirmation from either Xiaomi or Great Wall Motors regarding the partnership for EV manufacturing.
