Microsoft Exchange Server Patches Still Didn't Work for 10,000 Computers! Is Microsoft in Deep Trouble?

Microsoft's Exchange servers still faces security problem despite released patches on March 2. Around 10,000 computers are still compromised due to the recent massive Exchange hack. Will this be a huge issue for the company?

Antti Laatikainen, senior security consultant at F-Secure said "Tens of thousands of servers have been hacked around the world. They're being hacked faster than we can count. Globally, this is a disaster in the making," he said on Sunday, March 22 in MSN.

For people worldwide, this is troubling as Microsoft still hasn't fixed the issue fully and is still letting hackers into the system even after these major patches.

Microsoft is and can be in more deepwater if this continues. Not only can this lead to many people around the world being affected by ransomware attacks, hackers can also steal information from people who don't know how to protect themselves from these types of attacks.

Microsoft has been hard at work fixing the issue themselves. They have started to create safety measures and critical patches to keep the Exchange safe.

The company has released a tool that allows its users to patch the software's security flaws. However, those with access to it previously can still cause trouble and issues even with the newest patches and updates to the software and windows security updates that Microsoft is quickly sending out.

A spokesperson from Microsoft said on Bloomberg, "We remain committed to supporting our customers against these attacks, to innovating on our security approach, and to partnering closely with governments and the security industry to help keep our customers and communities secure."

One of the updates being an anti-mitigation tool added to the windows defender. This tool stops hackers from entering servers that aren't updated to the latest version from being targetted or breached.

Microsoft has made progress in making computers that have used the Exchange from being targeted by these attacks.

Up to 45% of vulnerable systems have been patched over the week, says National Security Council spokesperson on Bloomberg.

They also say that there are only fewer than 10,000 computers still vulnerable today to hackers. Microsoft's continual update was a great improvement from the beginning when over 120,000 systems were affected by these vulnerabilities.

Hopefully soon, Microsoft can fully solve the issue and create more safety measures to keep its users safe later on, or will they continue to suffer from hackers entering their systems and continuing to cause trouble.
