Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will be holding the first International Town Hall Q&A in Bogotá, Colombia, on Jan. 14.
The Facebook CEO announced the event through a blog post, saying that it will take place while he's in Latin America on behalf of Internet.org, which is a nonprofit that is dedicated to bringing the Internet to the two-thirds of the world that isn't yet connected.
"These Q&As are an opportunity for you to ask me questions, and for me to hear from you how we can make Facebook better," said Zuckerberg in a blog post. "This Q&A, I'm looking forward to hearing from more people who use Facebook in Latin America. To ask a question, go to the Q&A with Mark page and just comment on the post. To vote for a question, just like that comment. I'll answer questions for about an hour and try to get through as many as possible. We will post the video of the Q&A on the page and I'll post some video highlights here as well."
Zuckerberg has held two of these public events at headquarters in California in the past, both of them proving to be very interesting. During the event, anyone can ask the young CEO a question, with previous questions ranging from the decrease in range for business page posts to why a dislike button won't happen.
So far a number of questions have been submitted for the upcoming event, with the top ones including why "Zuck" gets a four-latter username when everyone else has to have one with a minimum of five letters, and how Facebook is handling the evolution of social media.
By the time of the Q&A, the most popular questions are likely to be the ones answered by Zuckerberg. It is likely that, given the fact that this is the first international Q&A, more questions relating to international issues will be asked. This is likely to include the continued implementation and handling of WhatsApp and the Messenger app.
It is also likely that at least one question relating to Facebook's plans for better-integrating video will be asked. As usual, it is highly likely that a number of questions will be asked relating to organic reach.
Internet.org is being implemented in partnership among Facebook, Samsung, Nokia, MediaTek and a number of other companies. It was first launched in August 2013 and has announced a number of initiatives to connect the rest of the world to the Internet, including through the use of drones.
