Intel has been trying over and over again to convince both their users and their manufacturers that the company's GPU tech is everything that they need. However, the company has still fallen flat when it actually came to gaming as well as graphics-extensive applications.
Intel Xe HPG GPU
The most recent Intel Xe graphics architecture, however, shows some sort of promise that the GPUs might show some promise. With this being said, Intel's brand new graphics are actually still missing a critical market but this might still change some time next week when the supposed chipmaker would finally reveal its new Intel Xe HPG discrete GPUs especially made for gaming.
The Intel Xe is basically the company's very own 12th gen graphics architecture and it was introduced in a new brand of GPUs that had admittedly been able to show even more muscle compared to its previous Intel Iris chips. While the technology also reportedly covered the integrated GPUs just like the Intel Iris Xe Max that was made for laptops, more attention was still poured into the company's very own initial discrete GPUs.
DG1 GPU Intel Xe HPG
According to the story by SlashGear, with this being said the graphics cards are based on the supposed DG1 GPU which were made available specifically to system builders in order for them to sell within a pre-built PC. A number of consumers, especially the gamers, are now still waiting for the company's very first commercial GPU.
This might actually come as the upcoming Intel Xe HPG (which is short for High-Performance Graphics) which was previously teased some time back in 2020. The GPU was targeted by certain enthusiasts and also meant to be combined along with a number of traits coming from the integrated Xe-LP, the other server Xe-HPC, and also the large-scale compute Intel Xe-HPC.
Intel Xe HPG GPU specs
This would be different compared to the available versions of the current Intel Xe-LP which is made specifically for it to address the gaming needs of its users. Intel still hasn't given any commitment towards a specific date that it would start off the Intel Xe HPG but a certain scavenger hunt that was previously discovered by Wcctech actually hints that an important event is now scheduled to be announced this March 26 at 9AM PT.
Whether it will be the actual final announcement or just another announcement of an upcoming announcement, there is still no final information as to what viewers should be expecting. Intel, right on schedule, has now started promoting its upcoming GPU along with a video teaser.
The details regarding the new Intel Xe HPG "DG2" still remain quite slim aside from the new DDR6 memory that Intel has previously confirmed themselves last year. Previous leaks also hinted that the card will also be having 512 execution units along with 4,096 cores and even 12GB of the said DDR6 video memory.
