According to NBC News' latest report, Facebook's latest action is a part of its effort to prevent harmful content and misinformation.
"We know we have a greater responsibility when we are amplifying or recommending content," said Facebook's Vice President Tom Alison via NBC News. "As behaviors evolve on our platform, though, we recognize we need to do more," he added.
Facebook confirmed that its current action would apply to its tens of millions of active groups. The platform will put these rule-breaking pages at the bottom of the recommendations bar, which is expected to make them less discoverable to other users.
How Facebook users identify rule-breaking groups
On the other hand, Facebook will also provide a notification to users, allowing them to identify the group they want to join as a rule-breaking one. This new notification is expected to lessen the number of users joining bad pages.

Aside from this, the rule-breaking groups will be given low priority so that they will appear at the bottom of the group members' feeds. Facebook also explained that it would require the admins and moderators of the rule-breaking groups to implement stricter policies and rules in their online communities.
This means that they should filter all the posts properly before publishing, especially of those members who are common violators of the platform's rules.
On the other hand, this will also apply to the new groups created by previous rule-breaking pages.
Facebook to focus on newsletter tools?
Aside from dealing with groups that break the platform's rules and policies, Facebook also wants to focus on developing efficient newsletter tools. The Verge reported that the social media platform plans to offer new features to help online writers find their targeted audiences and sell subscriptions.
Furthermore, Facebook also wants to create analytics tools and new accelerator programs to help creators work together and learn each other's best practices. You can click here for more details.
