"Grand Theft Auto V" and "GTA Online" have brought one of the slowest PC load times in the history of games, despite one's computer having top-tier upgraded parts, and Rockstar has acknowledged it before. However, thanks to a fan and his creation, Rockstar Games would soon debut a version of the game with a faster load time for PCs.
Rockstar Games may have struggled to improve the game's load time speeds over the eight years of "GTA V" being available to the public, but all that would change in the soon-coming update by the company. Instead of waiting for almost five minutes to load the game and start the online gaming in "GTA's" open-world, it would be reduced to a reasonable period.
'GTA Online' PC Load Time Explained by fan 't0st'
Earlier this month, a user called "t0st" or "tostercx" which has a development page for GitHub has narrated the team's way to reduce the load times for "GTA Online" and "GTA V," effectively reducing the long wait time. Moreover, the coder and developer have also previewed that his method was effective and reduced his version of the game's loading time.
According to "t0st's" blog post, the "infamous" slow load times of "GTA Online" on the PC Gaming platform are caused by Rockstar Games' development and code of the game, but like most things, it can be fixed. Here, the fan demonstrated and pointed out the sectors on what the team has improved, so that the log-in screen could accelerate its loading time.
"GTA Online" is known for letting people wait for more than five minutes on its loading screen, which is a long wait to boot the game, compared to other open-world sandbox titles in the gaming industry. Moreover, it has been a long-running problem with Rockstar Games, and it seems that it has not addressed the issues despite the many reports.
Tostercx pointed out the "really bad code" that was made by the company, particularly as it maxes out a single-core on a computer's CPU, and does nothing else but ride on that internal component for a long time. Readings show that the game is not focusing on other processes such as networks, drives, memory, and the like.
'GTA Online' PC Load Times Fixed by Fan, Bought by Rockstar Games for $13,000
According to Rockstar Games' Support, the "GTAV" title update would be in patch 1.53, which was updated by the developers, earlier today, bringing a faster loading time that significantly upgrades the PC platform. Moreover, users would not have to wait for an average of five to six minutes (and up to 15 mins. for others), to load "GTAV" on the computer.
The purchase made by Rockstar Games amounted to a total of $13,000 for the new codes that would significantly improve loading times, without maxing out the core of a computer CPU. The price was hefty and a massive upgrade for Rockstar Games, but it is surely something players have been waiting for, several years ago.
