Technology company Intel is said to be developing the 14th Generation Luna Lake processors. According to unnamed insiders, Intel has hinted at the potential release date for the new processor.
Intel's 14th Gen Luna Lake
Coelacanth's Dream detected the term "Intel Luna Lake" processor through Videocardz on a page that showed a patch introducing support for the unannounced CPU.
The patch notes are said to be for the Intel Ethernet Driver e1000e, a 1-Gbps NIC for Linux systems. Based on the patch notes, support for Intel Meteor Lake CPU was added in Oct. 2020.
According to IBT, there is no detail about the specs of the 14th Gen Luna Lake processor available right now despite hints of a possible company timeline.
Meanwhile, AMD is already ahead of Intel when it comes to processors. AMD is said to be preparing the second-round 7nm node CPUs from TSMC. When AMD launches the Zen 4 this year or early 2022, it will move on to a 5nm chipset, which means that Intel needs to catch up and may have a lot of adjustments to make.
According to the insiders, the Intel Luna Lake CPU series will be replacing the Meteor Lake processors in 2023 or around 2024.
AdoredTV stated that Intel will release an Alder Lake refresh series, which will be called Raptor Lake, and will be released in 2022.
In November 2020, Moore's Law is Dead, a content creator and industry insider, shared on YouTube some details about the future goals of Intel.
According to the information shared by Moore's Law is Dead, Meteor Lake would be founded on the new Redwood Cove architecture developed from the bottom all the way up.
The processor is said to shift to 7nm. Also, the unnamed insider had cautioned consumers on speculating too much about the Luna Lake processor, considering the fact that there is no official release date yet.
Currently, there is nothing official about Intel Luna Lake CPU yet. People who are waiting for the new processor should take note that the launch schedule is always subject to change, and there is also a possibility that the processor might be canceled before its official release.
However, the latest patch notes suggest that the Intel Luna Lake could be developed and released in the near future, given that it is described as the next product of Intel, according to TechRadar.
Intel update
Aside from the 14th Gen processor that is set to be launched this year or next year, the company has just started rolling out the graphics driver update for Windows 10 version 20H2, version 2004, and older this month.
Intel GPU driver version 27.20.100.9316 is the company's second update in 2021 and came after months of fixes and improvements to the system.
The Intel DCH version 27.20.100.9316 does not add any support for new features or new games, and the focus is mostly on Xe graphics.
Aside from this, "Cyberpunk 2077" will also be fixed in this release and will have better performance when starting gameplay on Xe and Xe Max graphics.
