In the earlier months, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau teased the public with a "moonshot" announcement, hinting at the big launch of the OnePlus 9 series this coming Mar. 8. Leaker Max Jambor tweets that this is actually the announcement of the OnePlus 9 series launch date and not the phones themselves.
Comparing this information with other leakers, Android Central predicts that the OnePlus 9 Nord 2 will be released sometime on Mar. 23.
One thing is for sure, OnePlus will unveil some information regarding the upcoming OnePlus 9 series on Mar. 8.
OnePlus Nord is one of the best-selling mid-range phones available, and now comes the release of its 2021 successor. The upcoming OnePlus Nord 2 will be powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 1200 chipset.
OnePlus Nord 2 and MediaTek Dimensity 1200
Dimensity 1200 is an all-powerful chipset with a platform built on a 6nm node. The prime Cortex A78 goes up to 3.0GHz, with four Cortex A55 cores that can go up to 2.0GHz and three additional cores A78 cores at up to 2.6GHz, boosting your phone's performance. It also features the Mali-G77 GPU with nine cores and adopts global 5G connectivity and 5G dual SIM dual standby, which Qualcomm has yet to adopt in 2021.
Nord continues its affordable price tag, retailing at ₹24,999 ($340) in India.
OnePlus Smartphone Series
Founded by the former Oppo vice-president Pete Lau and Carl Pei in December 2013, OnePlus is a Chinese smartphone designed with high-end smartphone flagship hardware that did not cost half the price. Their company features the tagline 'Never Settle.'
The company is expected to launch three new smartphones- The OnePlus 9, 9 Pro, and 9R along with a smartwatch this month.
OnePlus 9 Pro is rumored to have a Hasselblad-branded camera setup at the rear and a 48MP main sensor, giving even the best of the other Android phones a run for their money.
OnePlus 9 and pro are also expected to run on a 5nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. The Vanilla model features a 6.5-inch display at a 120Hz refresh rate. Upgrading to an OnePlus 9 Pro features a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED panel with the same 120Hz refresh rate.
There are rumors that these flagship phones may include 65W fast charging and IP68 water resistance.
The budget phone of this series is called the OnePlus 9R. The model might feature a 6.5-inch 90Hz display, 5000mAH battery, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 chipset.
Lastly, along with the new smartphones, we might see the OnePlus watch's launch at that event. No leaks have been revealed about this smartwatch, but rumors suggest it features a design similar to OPPO Watch RX and is capable of running on Google's Wear OS.
