For those that previously loved the iPhone's previous headphone jack, it still has nothing to do with just how fervent people are when it comes to the Lightning port. ZDNet writer Adrian Kingsley-Hughes gathered a collection of commentary regarding whether or not the removal of this particular Lightning port would be a bad idea.

Apple iPhone lightning port-less

During the time that the article by ZDnet had reportedly been written, Hughes was still collecting feedback. However, within the previous 24 hours of the articles writing, Hughes was able to collect different commentary points towards whether or not the Lighting port removal would be a bad idea.

Here are some of the opinions:

  • One person commented that if the iPhone won't include a Lightning port, that person would have bought his last iPhone.
  • A user reported having bad feelings regarding purchasing the Lightning accessories after being burned when Apple had reportedly switched to the port.
  • Another user strongly remarked that the user's car was basically their main accessory.
  • The removal of the iPhone Lightning port would then mean the total binning of a number of accessories.
  • Another commenter questioned as to why and remarked if it would be for the iPhone to be a tenth of a millimeter thinner, that would just be nonsense.
  • The removal of the lightning port would then mean binning thousands of dollars of the users accessories. The commenter noted that their entire business was actually built around it.

One of the most humorous comments on Twitter was that the best use of the Lightning port in the user's pocket was just to collect lint from the commenter's pockets. Although a joke, the majority of the comments gathered on the article by ZDnet point towards the removal of the Lightning port as a bad thing.

Removal of lightning port rumor

The writer, Hughes, then noted that his thoughts are that he does not really believe that Lightning port is exiting the whole picture. It's also the way that Apple rolls. Whether it actually happens this year or maybe sometime in the future, and whether it also happens across the board in just a swoop or maybe gradually over time, still remains to be seen. Ultimately, however, this could make some sense for Apple as it would result in one less thing needing fitting, taking up space inside the limited-space iPhone, and more.

For those extremely worried, as of the moment, it still isn't confirmed as to whether or not this is a direction that Apple would decide to take. Besides, when it comes to the iPhone, Apple spends way too much time on the design to be innovating into completely wireless technology like removing the Lightning port too fast. Of course, however, it still remains to be seen as to just if or when the Lightning port will be removed.
