The blood-spraying, demon-slaying classic "Doom 3" is finally getting a VR release. The first-person shooter from id Software will come to the PlayStation VR on Mar. 29 and be playable on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. "Doom 3 VR Edition" will feature both the original game and its expansions - "Resurrection of Evil" and "The Lost Mission." Other game titles from a few successful VR studios and a couple of relative newcomers to VR.
'Doom 3 VR Edition'
PlayStation has full details of "Doom 3,' which describes as the game puts the player in a position of a space marine who must fight off a catastrophic invasion of aliens on the colonized planet of Mars. The player must uncover the secrets of the UAC's unholy experiments, encounter uncanny monstrosities in claustrophobic environments, and wield an arsenal of iconic weaponry with new textures, shaders, and sound effects as the player survive against the forces of Hell across 15 hours of heart-stopping action.
The publication also states that the new VR-enhancements allow the players to peer around corners, angling their shots with flashlight-mounted weapons using motion controls, 180-degree quick-turn functionality to catch demons sneaking up from behind. An immersive wrist-mounted display to track player's health, armor, and ammo in "Doom 3 VR Edition."
Polygon reports that Ex-id Software programmer John Carmack demoed a prototype "Doom 3" in VR at QuakeCon 2012. There have been fan adaptations, and Bethesda made a stand-alone VR game based on the 2016 "Doom Reboot" - but nothing on the scale of today's announcement. The franchise is known for its unique blend of horror and first-person shooter elements that many have tried to adapt to VR.
The Verge reports that Sony announced a new generation of PS VR for its PlayStation 5 console last month. The headset will come with a redesigned controller, a single cord instead of the original cable box, and a higher-resolution screen, among other upgrades.
But Sony has not unveiled the headset or offered many details, and it is said that the device would not arrive in 2021 with the promise of a better experience down the line.

Other Games Coming To PS VR
PS VR can look forward to games including "After the Fall," Zenith," "I Expect You To Die 2: The Spy and The Liar," Fracked," and "Song in the Smoke" when they release later this year.
"After the Fall" is a post-apocalyptic first-person shooter where frigid, undead creatures called the "snowbreed" roam what is left of an alternate version of Los Angeles in the 1980s. This co-op shooter was previously announced and confirmed for a PC release as a VR titled and has now been confirmed for PSVR.
"Zenith" is an MMORPG set in a virtual reality world. This upcoming game offers a new kind of set in a VR setting. It is most likely that many people have not experienced it before, as previous titles for VR games have always been shooters and rhythm games. The MMORPG features combat, customizable classes, and a PvP system.
"I Expect You To Die 2: The Spy and The Liar" is a spy-thriller game and controls a super spy and follows the first game's events. Many PSVR owners have been familiar with the upcoming game as "I Expect You To Die" launched on the PlayStation 4's VR platform four years ago and is now being followed up with this sequel.
