Multiple leaks over the past couple of months have revealed quite a lot about Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 and the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G. And while people still wait for an official announcement, someone in Samsung's camp seems to have jumped the gun and listed the two unannounced phones on its 's official security updates website.
Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 Leaked by Samsung
According to Android Headlines, Samsung has officially scheduled the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 and the Galaxy A52 5G to receive monthly security updates.
Interestingly, apart from the Galaxy A50, no other Galaxy A Series flagship receives security monthly updates. The Galaxy A50 is an enterprise model, so it is an understandable move for the South Korean-based company to give it special care.
On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 was reported to be temporarily removed from the list of receiving monthly updates, but now it is back on it. The handheld makes it into the list as an Enterprise model, just like its predecessors. So it is not very surprising that it will receive monthly security updates.
Pocketnow reports that Samsung does not have a particularly stellar record of preventing its upcoming products from leaking on the internet. But occasionally, the company finds itself doing an oopsie or two.
Interestingly enough, both names of Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 and Samsung Galaxy A52 5G have been unveiled to their official page for phones that will receive monthly security updates. Still, at the last second, the company removed them from its database.
However, there have been leakers getting screenshots from Samsung's security site and spreading the news to the web, suggesting that a mistake was made on Samsung's part.
Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 Specs and Features
An official release date for the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 has not been confirmed yet, but there have been leaks floating around the web about the handheld's specifications and features.
First published by Winfuture.de, the German blog reports that the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 will have a 5.3-inch display with a screen resolution of 1480 x 720, which translates into a 16:9 ratio and protected by the Gorilla Glass 6.
The Xcover 5 might be one of the Android phones being released to feature small displays. Do not expect a tiny form factor, as the images show that the phone has pretty thick bezels.
The site also stated that the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 would be powered by the Exynos 850 processor. The octa-core processor has a clock speed of 2.0GHz and is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.
Meanwhile, the single-camera setup at the back is a 16MP f/1.8 camera with a red ring around it, and two LEDs for flash positioned directly underneath. The selfie camera is a 5MP sensor with an f/1.2 aperture.
Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 will be a 4G variant and will have two spaces for nano-SIM cards, and both can be set to 4G. The phone also has Bluetooth 5.0, support for 5GHz Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS, USB-C, and an audio jack. The handheld features an IP68 waterproof rating and is MIL-STD 810G certified.
The Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 features a 3,000mAh battery that supports 15W fast charging and will run Android 11 with Graphite Black color out of the box. (Report by Gizmochina)
