DxOMark Scores Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Below Expectation

If you're into gadget tech, then you might have heard DxOMark exclusive rankings. They serve as a valuable reference for choosing the best cameras or lens, speakers, and smartphones by testing hardware and software performance. With over twenty-thousand followers, you know they mean business about quality control in products.

Less than a day ago, DxOMark started assessing the newly released Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra product quality in the market.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Performance

Designed to be an epic upgrade from its predecessor Samsung Galaxy S20, expectation-wise, this phone's specifications have an exceptional operating system with a 5G Exynos Camera and an aspect ratio of 20:9, 3200 x 1440-pixel resolution with frame rates up to 120 Hz.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is a large phone. A 6.8-inch large display has a beautifully curved edge screen that makes the WQHD (Wide Quad HD) display to pop out, unlike any other of the Samsung flagship phones released. Unfortunately, this unit no longer supports micro SD cards, and users are limited to 1 TB internal storage.

However, as the team of experts in DxOMark has decided to dive deeper into the phone's specifications, the results show a subtle lag in performance against the ultra-premium gadgets.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra features a powerful camera with its Space Zoom. Unfortunately, this camera feature would also lead to its terrible ratings.

While it delivers a dynamic range in highlights and shadows around the frame, HDR processing can be unstable. When exposed to low light, color saturation also decreases. The autofocus system struggles in soft but high-contrasting environments.

Most notable in this phone's struggle is the texture/noise in the image. There is a visible loss of detail when shooting low light indoors or contrasting light outdoors. Scenic shots and evening pictures come out poorly on this phone.

There are other problems to look out for with Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. According to GSMarena: S21 Ultra has a large body and battery but poor battery life. While it supports the use of an S-Pen, bought separately from it is a bundle, there is no S-Pen socket on its hardware. You would have to store it in your pocket or purchase dedicated pen holders.

The Truth about Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

With an average score of 121, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra ranks below even compared to last year's flagship models, including the iPhone 11 at the score of 124.

With the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra price value compared to its performance, it would be best to reconsider purchasing this unit. Ultimately, Samsung continues to create mobile phones with an average performance in an overall assessment.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is by no means a weak phone. The phone is capable of capturing decent media of pictures and videos with the right circumstances. It offers an impressive display that is amazing for gaming and surfing the internet. However, as a flagship, there are better choices out there. The hardware specs, including its size and weight, could create an uncomfortable experience. Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is not the best phone the market has to offer.
