For those that think the Vaio Z sounds quite familiar, this might be because of Sony's known ultraportable laptop that previously launched over about a decade ago. This was when the electronics giant was very firmly involved in the whole PC market.
However, coming close to 2014, this was when Sony had suddenly decided to stop producing computers and also sold off a number of parts of its business towards a consortium that had eventually became the Vaio Corporation.
Vaio Z laptop is molded from carbon fiber
According to an article by ZDNet, Sony still retains the whole Vaio trademark and also still has a stake in this brand new company. Vaio Corp. has also slowly resumed producing those laptops that carry the familiar brand name which includes the Vaio SX14 back in 2019. Like the other Sony versions, the brand new Vaio notebook features what's seen as an attractive design and pretty solid features that come at a high-end price tag.
With the relaunch of the new Vaio Z, the company is now taking all of those particular things to a whole new level. According to Vaio, the brand new Z is going to be the first ever mass-produced laptop that is built from 3D-molded carbon fiber, a particular process that the company notes has been previously relegated towards racing car design.
This would combine toughness as well as lightweight leaving the Vaio Z's chassis just under 2.3 pounds despite its decent 14-inch screen. It's also a computer that allows the top lid to do a whole 180 degrees.
Where are Vaio laptops made?
Despite its particularly small footprint, the said Vaio Z is still packed with the 11th gen Intel Core i7-11375H mobile processor coming from the H series to provide decent performance. Three of the four different configurations would come along with 16GB RAM while the said top models would come with 32GB RAM.
The SSD would range from 512GB up to 2TB. The small 14-inch screen is capable of 4K resolution and would rely on Intel's Iris Xe integrated GPU.
Vaio also reportedly includes a few cool security features like the built-in shutter which helps users cover their webcam as well as something that is called User Sensing which allows users to log in hands-free. Connectivity includes 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax WiFi 6 as well as a pair of USB Type C Thunderbolt 4 ports.

What makes Vaio laptop powerful compact?
While the original Vaio Z were pretty pricey even for the standards of Sony, Vaio still keeps that tradition with this particular version as the base configuration would be priced at $3579 for 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD and there would be three other versions going up.
Adding another $200 would allow users to double the storage and finally, users can pay $4,179 to get a 32GB RAM with 2TB SSD. Prices can be seen on the Vaio official website.
