Japan never fails to amaze us with ultramodern inventions especially in the field of technology. This time, Panasonic has created a robot cat that will let you have a companion pet like your real cats and dogs at home. What's new with this mechanical cat is it can fart everywhere, so let's take a look at its features.
The Farting Robot Cat Is Your Perfect Companion
Panasonic introduced an adorable cat who just will not catch your attention, but it will also make you feel like owning a domestic cat. Robotic researchers named it Nicobo, the cat with a small set of eyes and nose. It also wags its tail in enjoyment so you could imagine how happy it is upon landing on its new owner.
Besides, the developers from the Toyohashi University of Technology Michio Oka Laboratory said that Nicobo could identify people. It is built with multiple microphones for voice recognition, so it could speak to you. Moreover, it could also perceive your face through a camera.
Like a real cat who loves to nap, it has a light sensor so it could doze if it wants. If you want to hug it, it would know that it is being embraced by a human through its touch sensors, Gizmodo reported. Nicobo might appear like a cat wearing a sock and yet, it could provide you the comfort of having a room friend especially during the time of pandemic when staying at home became a culture.
You can notice that Nicobo wants your touch when it wags its tail to show its appreciation. There are days that it becomes moody, so this time you should be ready when it farts at you anywhere in the house. Remember that this robot could not operate like a multi-functional robot that could do household chores.
Although it might sound that Nicobo could only utter words repeatedly, it could talk in a different, broken language which was called "katakoto" in Japanese. If you are looking for someone who could be a walking diary, this robot might not be a talkative friend that you can expect. In light of that, you could still feel its sincere concern for your emotions so telling your worries to Nicobo will be a big relief for your heavy feelings.
How Much Does Nicobo Cost?
Upon its launch, people flocked in hopes of buying it. Panasonic, however, decided that it will only make 320 units. As of now, the robotic cat was now sold out through Makuake, a Japanese crowdfunding platform. It costs $360 per unit according to a report by Slash Gear.
After purchasing Nicobo, you will be obliged to pay $10 monthly for the software updates like connectivity features in smartphones.
At times of living through the comfort of our homes, there will be a time that we will be needing a presence of a special friend through our pets. Nicobo, for instance, will not only become your best friend for a long time, but it will also be your escape from the harsh reality of life.
