The latest entry in the "Dynasty Warriors" spin-off series is the "Samurai Warriors 5," and this new game is said to come to the Nintendo Switch in mid-2021.

The trailer of the game was released at the same time as the announcement from the Nintendo Direct presentation. It has been years since the game players have seen any release from the game series, but the latest entry is said to take advantage of Nintendo Switch's hardware.

The game fans are now hoping that the features will allow for new and fresh take on the video game series.

Samurai Warriors 5 release date, preorder, and price

Nintendo has not announced the price for the game nor mentioning anything about its pre-order date and process.

The game company only announced the release date, which is the summer of 2021, but even that is not specific as there is no set date as to when it would be available on the consoles, according to IGN.

The predecessor, "Samurai Warriors 4", had hit North America back in Oct. 2014. It was released on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 consoles.

"Samurai Warriors 4" received mostly positive reviews from game critics and fans around the world. It was praised for its familiar hack-and-slash gameplay that gave smooth and action-packed combat while sticking to the game series's roots.

Koei Tecmo, the game's publisher, and Omega Force, the developer of the game, have recently brought their signature brand of hack-and-slash gameplay to the world of Zelda in the popular "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity" according to Screen Rant.

Nintendo Direct laid out its plans for the rest of the year after they released the announcement. The list of games includes "Samurai Warriors 5."

The trailer briefly showed a cinematic within the game, and it revealed the characters that are rumored to be the protagonists, Mitsuhide Akeshi and Nobunaga Oda.

After the trailer, the publisher of the series, Koei Tecmo, said that the video game will be a fresh overhaul of the video game franchise. It will revitalize the series for the modern generation of games.

Both the "Samurai Warriors" series and "Dynasty Warriors" series have been mainstays of the gaming industry since the early 2000s. Both games have been very popular due to its smooth action gameplay that puts the players in the characters' shoes.

Not only that, the anime-inspired art style and the characters have brought the fans of the game back to the series despite being gone from consoles for years and there are gaps between the releases.

Nintendo made a lot of announcements during their virtual event on Feb. 18. Both of the game series and new Nintendo announcements were shown heading towards the Nintendo Switch this year.

Another game that was revealed during the event was "The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword," a fan-favorite and has received the high definition treatment. It is going to be released on the console in mid-2021, according to Nintendo Life.

The Nintendo Switch has seen an increase in its sales in 2020, both for its wide range of games and play convenience.
