After having graduated from Princeton University and after working at New York City's popular Wall Street, Jeff Bezos ran Amazon out of his garage! He had also held his meetings at Barnes & Noble with the help of his ex-wife known as MacKenize Bezos who eventually helped in running the e-commerce giant.
According to an article by CNet, Jeff Bezos has recently reclaimed his status as the richest man in the world which was shortly overtaken by Elon Musk. Forbes notes, as of Feb 16, that Jeff Bezos is now reportedly worth about $190.3 Billion compared to Elon Musk's $173.4 Billion. There were a number of things noted by SCMP about the billionaire not a lot of people know much about.
Here are things you might not know about Jeff Bezos
1. His mother gave birth to him at 17
Jacklyn Bezos gave birth to him when she was just barely 17 years old and was still a junior in high school. He was born in 1964. His mother was almost unable to finish her education but was allowed to return "under strict conditions.
2. Jeff Bezos' biological father used to be a circus performer
The 2013 biography of Jeff Bezos by Brad Stone noted that his biological father was actually a unicyclist and a circus performer. His father Jorgensen died back in March 16, 2015 at 70 years old.
3. Jeff Bezos liked engineering as a child
As a toddler, Jeff Bezos felt he was actually "too old" to sleep in a cot. He then managed to take it apart using a screwdriver by himself. In highschool, he transformed his home garage into an actual laboratory.
4. He started business in highschool
In highschool, he made an educational summer camp with his then girlfriend charging 9-12 year olds $600 per person. It was called Dream Team. He worked at McDonald's for just a summer.
5. Jeff Bezos was on Wall Street during the early 1990s.
After having graduated computer science and electrical engineering at Princeton University, he worked on Wall Street for companies like investment firm D.E. Shaw. He even became the vice-president in 1990 but left just four years later to start an online bookstore.

6. Amazon was found in his garage
After originally launching a prototype of the said Amazon website, Jeff Bezos asked 300 friends to do the beta test. Bezos and a few employees developed software in Bezos' garage. Since it was too small, he would host meetings at the Barnes & Noble bookstore.
7. Amazon was almost Cadabra
The original name Jeff Bezos could have gone with was Cadabra but was warned against the name by Todd Tarbert, Amazon's first lawyer.
8. Jeff Bezos in a helicopter crash 2003
On board an Aerospatiale Gazelle helicopter, Bezos was involved in a serious helicopter crash after the wind blew the helicopter off course in Texas.
9. Bezos owns The Washington Post
In 2013, Jeff Bezos bought the company for $250 million. Company shares rose immediately by 5.5% in the after trading hours.
10. Bezos owns Blue Origin
Jeff Bezos also owns an aerospace manufacturer as well as a suborbital space flight service company called Blue Origin.
