A massive amount of gaming history was lost when WiiWare and portions of DSiWare were shut down. Many fans were disappointed as they lost a ton of great games like "Contra ReBirth."

Space Invaders possible return

This is the reason why game preservation is considered important. One of the games that was lost that people can't seem to get over with is "Space Invaders Get Even" and it was touched upon in a recent Wccftech interview with the director at Taito, Yuichi Toyama, according to Nintendo Life.

"Space Invaders Get Even" came out in 2008 and it is one of the lost WiiWare titles. Taito never really revived it on any other platforms and even though it was not a massive hit at the time of its release, the game had a decent-sized audience and it was an enjoyable take on the "Space Invaders" game.

According to Toyama, the game is another one that they have considered in re-releasing but only if they get enough demand from the public.

Toyama added that the biggest issue with "Space Invaders Get Even" is the control method because the game was made to be played on the Wii Remote, so they need to work out a solution in order to deliver an enjoyable play experience.

Toyama also low key pitched a battle royale take on the formula, throwing this thought out into the universe. He said that maybe a game in which players become invaders and invade the Earth could be made different. He also said that there are no plans to release this at the moment.

What is Space Invaders about?

"Space Invaders" is a video game that was developed by Taito Corporation. It is one of the most famous early video games and was part of the childhood of millions of people, according to The New Yorker.

The game is all about defending the Earth from aliens by shooting them down before they can land. There have been seven different versions of Space Invaders made by the Taito Corporation.

"Space Invaders" were made by the Taito Corporations, and the man in charge of the game making department, Toshihiro Nishikado, according to Nintendo Wire.

Nishikado was then inspired to make the game after watching Star Wars and War of the Worlds. At first, "Space Invaders" was a coin-operated machine but it has been made available for almost every games console and home computer.

Before making "Space Invaders," Nishikado worked on games like "Interceptor" and "Soccer." He said that the hardest part of making a video game is making the computer inside it. Taito Corporations describe "Space Invaders" as an international phenomenon, which it was.

The game helped expand the video game industry from a novelty to a global industry. It also started the golden age of arcade video games. It was the inspiration for a lot of video games and game designers across different genres and it has been ported and re-released numerous times.

Because of its influence, numerous game players are looking for a way to revive it. Now Taito is willing to do so, but only if there will still be a decent-size audience to support it.
