A viral video of a TikTok user crying over a simple math problem made some feel people 'uncomfortable. The community seemed to be confused about what happened to an easy equation.

The Simple TikTok Mathematics Problem That Went Viral

A TikTok user named Bianca posted a video of herself weeping over a simple problem which turns out to be an uncomplicated division equation. Other users found this stressful since even an elementary pupil can figure out the answer to the problem. Meanwhile, Bianca expressed her surprise upon discovering that 87 is divisible by 29 on her post on Feb. 12.

In fact, you cannot immediately think about the problem's answer, but using a simple division method or even a calculator, you will realize that its simplicity should not bug a lot of people. Moreover, when you divide 87 by its divisor of 29, the answer will lead you to 3. There is no need for you to worry about fraction or decimal conversion since the answer is an exact, whole number.

Because of this, users have mixed comments about a simple-turned-complicated math equation. According to a TikTok user named @2016 Honda Accord, 87 is just one of many numbers that appears like a prime number at first, but it is a composite number. Another user @Ally8677 commented that the problem seems to be illegal yet it is not.

Meanwhile, one person said that the realization made him uncomfortable according to a report by Yahoo. Yet, another commenter shared that 7 x 8 =56 is not that big a number. From there, several replies contained bewildering math problems that will make you think twice before answering.

Furthermore, a user named @StormieGoldSmith proposed a solution that multiplying 20 and 3 first will result in 60. Now, the residues of 9 and 3 will yield 27 when multiplied. The two products, 60 and 27 will now result in 87.

Besides the viral math equation, some users have a different take on the background music used in the video. The "Fortnite Season 3" lobby music was used as a soundtrack and others said that it feels nostalgic after hearing it. On the other hand, some users are dismayed since it seems to be disrespectful for "Fortnite."

Bianca's video has now over 2 million likes on TikTok.

Math Videos Everywhere in TikTok

In September 2020, a teenager named Grace Cunningham claimed that Mathematics is not real. The viral video reached Twitter, and users grew disappointed after describing her statement as "dumb" and "idiotic." Just months later, people again stumbled in a mathematical perplexity of simple addition-and-subtraction equations.

According to Cunningham, she was thinking about how early mathematicians like Pythagoras ended up with equations and formulas. She became flustered about how a complicated concept like algebra was decided despite the addition and subtraction principles were already much convenient.

"Like, he didn't even have plumbing, but he was like let me worry about y=mx+b ... how would you even figure that out? How would you even start on the concept of algebra?" Cunningham said in her TikTok post, In The Know reported.
