Audi's new super EV sedan possibly matches Tesla Model S electric car. The giant car manufacturer just debuted this $100,000 E-Tron GT.
According to Business Insider's latest report, Audi just finished its latest E-Tron GT, a high-end sport sedan that is just like the Porsche Taycan. The giant car company debuted this to compete with Tesla's current Model S, which previously received a refreshing update for 2021. Last Tuesday, Feb. 19, Audi revealed the E-Tron GT through a virtual event.
The company confirmed that it will arrive in the United States dealerships this summer. The new super electric sedan will start at $100,000, with another trim level retailing for around $107,000.
E-Tron GT's features
The new EV sedan will have two motors, with one at each axle. Audi estimated that it is expected to combine 469 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. The car manufacturer added that it can reach 60 mph in less than 4 seconds, which is a little behind compared to Tesla Model S Plaid.
On the other hand, the E-Tron RS is expected to reach 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds, which is a little better compared to E-Tron GT. Meanwhile, the base model has a top speed of 152 mph and the RS version can reach up to 155 mph.
The new E-Tron GT is expected to travel 238 miles on a full charge, while the E-Tron RS model can reach up to 232 miles. Audi says that the car can add 62.1 miles of range in five minutes if DC fast charging is used.
Is it better than Tesla Model S?
If you will compare the latest E-Tron GT and E-Tron RS with the latest Tesla Model S Plaid, they are still behind since the 2021 Model S refresh can reach 60 mph in less than two seconds. However, Audi's new super EV sedans are cheaper compared to Tesla's latest electric car. Why? Because Tesla Model S Plain costs around $179,600, as reported by Top Gear.
On the other hand, the Tesla Model S refresh 2021 has a very unique inside design, especially when it comes to its steering wheels. Leaks revealed that Tesla will use a rectangular steering wheel instead of the regular one. However, rumors claimed that it is just for the show and Elon Musk will still use the regular design for its steering wheels.
