Asus users have been so frustrated with the M.2 solid-state drive because it is difficult to install and it is so tiny that when you drop it on the floor, there is a chance you will lose it.

This is also the reason why Asus PCs come with an extra M.2 screw. Finally, Asus found a solution to fix that problem.

Asus Q-Latch

The solution that Asus came up with is called the Q-Latch, and it is simple to use. It is a plastic retaining lever that you can rotate into place with just one swipe of your thumb.

You can get one in numerous Asus motherboards, such as the Z590 and the B560. However, it has not rolled out to the company's most expensive boards just yet, according to the report by PCGamesN.

This is not a new idea, because business-oriented laptops and desktops have featured plastic retaining clips before. However, it is the first time that people have seen anything like this on DIY desktop components.

The Verge reported that the new SSDs do not usually come with these types of screws, so people may have to carefully save the ones from their motherboard if you wish to install one in the future. M.2 screws are difficult to insert, and you need to be careful not to drop it.

A trick that you can use is to place the M.2 screw on the lip of your SSD before you press it down against the motherboard, using both the spring tension of the SSD and the tip of the screwdriver to hold it in place as you slowly push it down.

However, if you would rather not go through all of that, you can go for the Asus Q-Latch in these motherboards.

The motherboards that have the Q-Latch are the TUF Gaming Z590-Plus WiFi, ROG Strix Z590-E Gaming WiFi, ROG Strix Z590-A Gaming WiFi, ROG Strix B560-A Gaming WiFi, ROG Strix B560-G Gaming WiFi, ROG Strix Z590-F Gaming WiFi and ROG Strix B560-F Gaming WiFi.

Since Asus has made an adjustment to make installation of motherboards easier, there is a chance that other manufacturers will follow.

Aside from tiny M.2 screws, users are also finding it difficult to deal with header cables as they can be difficult to slot. Good thing that Asus as the Q-Connector to deal with the header cable issue.

Asus Q-Connector

The Asus Q-Connector can make connections of header cables faster and accurate. The Q-Connector allows you to connect or to disconnect chassis front panel cables in one step and with one complete module, according to Moddiy.com.

This adapter can eliminate the trouble of plugging in one cable at a time, making your connection fast and accurate.

The Asus Q-Connector has a USB Connector with 10-1 Pin and System Panel Connector with 20-8 Pin. The labels of the front panel cables may be different from chassis made by different manufactures. You need to refer to your motherboard specification for compatibility.

Compatible models are M2A-VM HDMI, Crosshair III Formula, M2N-SLI, M2N-E SLI, M3A78-EM, M3A, P5B, M4A79 DELUXE, P5B SE, P5B-VM, P5N-E SLI, P5Q SE, P5N-SLI, P6T DELUXE V2, P5QL-PRO, P6T DELUXE, P6T and P5Q SE PLUS.
