Google's suite of applications that runs on Apple devices on iOS 14 is experiencing several "Update Warning" pop-ups as the company has not yet updated its applications to match the Apple Privacy Labels settings. It has been several months since Google updated the application for the latest iOS version of the iPhones and iPads but is somehow refusing to release a new version.
According to Spencer Dailey, Google may be siding with Facebook in disagreeing with the Cupertino giant to reveal information whenever it uses a phone setting or does not want to update for the iOS. Notably, Apple is somehow releasing an update for its iOS 14 software on a monthly or two-month basis that is now on the 14.5 version.
Facebook has initially called out Apple for this setting and privacy labels as it is "absurd" to reveal that the application is using several device hardware whenever the app is of use or launched.
Google User Reveals Update Warning Pop Up on iOS 14
According to Spencer Dailey via Twitter (@SpencerDailey), Google themselves are already telling users that the app they own are out of date for the iOS 14, and asks people to update the said application in talks. However, there are no updates available on the Apple App Store from Google's developing team, thus making this message erroneous.
The Update Warning pop-up message persists whenever users login to their Google accounts on an iOS application and does not center alone on Google's Gmail app. Dailey has revealed on his website that other Google apps are plagued by this issue including Drive, Docs, Sheets, Maps, Photos, and others.
Users of iPhones that run the latest public release version of iOS 14.4 have reported these issues and are not isolated to the author himself. Several of Dailey's accounts were also revealed to be logged out of the application, thus pushing him to relog in, but the erroneous "This app is out of date" message only pops up whenever attempting to access.
Google Has Not Updated Since Dec. 8 Deadline by Apple
Initially, Apple has imposed a deadline among all developers of applications that would run by the iOS 14 for an update to adhere to the Apple Privacy Label settings last Dec. 8. However, Dailey mentioned that Google has not yet updated since then.
Tim Cook's Apple Data Privacy and Transparency of Use
Tim Cook's advocacy of Data Privacy and Transparency whenever it is being used by applications installed via the App Store in Apple devices are reiterated and given importance with iOS 14. The company is on track to let its users know about certain usages in the phone's systems and has been the Apple CEO's goals with its products, despite other companies and developer's apps.
