The popular tech CEO of SpaceX and Tesla explained that companies and businesses should start quitting spending so much time in meetings. He said that he noticed there are too many business leaders that spend too much time in conference rooms or over presentations.
This habit prevents other leaders from focusing enough attention to find ways that will help their businesses and companies have better day-to-day innovations.
"Are CEOs in corporate America focused enough on product improvement? I think the answer is no," said Elon Musk via The Wall Street Journal.
"Spend less time on finance, spend less time in conference rooms, less time on PowerPoint, and more time just trying to make your product as amazing as possible," he added.
Elon Musk's secret
Elon Musk said that his ultimate goal is to make his technologies and services as perfect as possible. The popular CEO said that his secret is to look for negative comments and criticism, as well as opinions, which he can use to make improvements in his companies, specifically SpaceX and Tesla.
If you are following his Twitter account, you will notice that he is always active and replying to his fans' and critics' tweets. He will answer them even if they are negative comments.
Musk explained that if the companies are only focusing on their bottom lines, it just shows that they are on the wrong path.
What should companies do?
Right now, the biggest issue for the companies in the United States is there are too many MBAs (Masters in Business Administration) in the industry. These people leading the U.S. companies are usually focusing on finances and conferences, which Elon Musks doesn't agree to. He said that they should focus on their sources and study how they work. This way, they can fully understand how their companies or businesses operate, as reported by Entrepreneur.
