SpaceX would be hosting a team of four commercial crew astronauts to orbit the Earth near the fourth quarter of this year, for the Inspiration4 mission that calls upon three individuals to join and be part of the journey. The multi-day trip around the globe would bring use the Crew Dragon as its vessel and the Falcon 9 as its rocket launcher towards orbit.
The popular aerospace manufacturer and space technologies company, SpaceX, is joined by Shift4 Payments and its CEO Jared Isaacman, as the first seat in the Crew Dragon's Inspiration4 commercial mission. The vessel of choice was purchased by the CEO and would be opening up three of the four seats available to any individual who would be chosen upon signing-up.
SpaceX had been the popular commercial space manufacturer of choice, including the popular space agency, NASA, in their commercial crew flights and resupply runs for the International Space Station. Initially, NASA's Space Shuttle program ended last 2011, with its astronauts joining other space agencies' launch that is bound for the ISS.
SpaceX Inspiration4 Commercial Mission Would Orbit the Earth
According to SpaceX's release, the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for going to space without the rigorous years of experience and stature is here, offering an everyday individual a chance to journey space this year. Three people can take the seats that are available and offered by SpaceX and Shift4 Payment's CEO Jared Isaacman, who purchased all four seats of the Crew Dragon.
While SpaceX's Inspiration4 Commercial Mission has no specific agendas or missions as it launches that day, it would bring the crew of four astronauts to orbit the Earth on a multi-day adventure as it reaches orbit. Aboard the Crew Dragon, the commercial crew astronauts would experience the 90-minute Earth orbit in space, along a customized flight path, and would return for soft water landing near the coast of Florida.
SpaceX Inspiration4 Commercial Mission: Three Seats Are Available
SpaceX also added that it would soon announce the three individuals who would be joining Isaacman in the journey towards the orbit, but all members of the public would have the chance to join the selection process. There are three seats available for everyone, and they are called Generosity, Prosperity, and Hope Seats.
These individuals would have to perform certain tasks to join the selection and secure a seat to join the year-long training process that would ready them to become a full-fledged astronaut come 2021's Q4. SpaceX would be in charge of training these astronauts with spacecraft knowledge, orbital mechanics, stress testing, microgravity, and more.
SpaceX Inspiration4 Commercial Mission: How to Sign-Up
Users need only to go to Inspiration4.com and read the rules and regulations to join or "secure a seat" for the Inspiration4 Commercial Mission. Either donate to St. Jude's lifesaving mission fundraiser or start a business with Shift4 Payment and showcase it on Twitter.
