The partnership with the Apple Car production now resulted in the growing concern of the Hyundai executives who are "divided" about the proposal.
What the second report tells
The company executives of the Hyundai Motor Company Group seemed to be 'divided' over the potential partnership with Apple for the possible car production in the future.
In a report by Reuters, Hyundai has not released any details upon saying that they have already talked with Apple earlier this month. The two companies were reportedly talking about building an electric car and its battery tie-up. However, Apple refused to respond to the discussion.
With Hyundai having a history of being hesitant with discussing with foreign companies, it is already no surprise if that will happen as well to Apple.
An unknown source, who was familiar with the topic reported that Apple and Hyundai are both bosses when it comes to business, so the relationship might not really work as planned.
While the talks already flooded the media, the negotiation was still indistinct since Apple did not release any acknowledgment about the car construction. Furthermore, the US tech titan held on a secret talk to the media with regards to their partners or any news about their unreleased products.
In a report by 9To5Mac, the second unidentified source revealed that the company owned by Tim Cook will likely acquire the various parts of the car from different suppliers. The second person continued that the Korean conglomerate will be in charge of the assembly of the product. The Apple Car production will take place in the US.
On Tuesday, Hyundai learned that its fourth-quarter profit was the greatest gain in the past three years. This, however, was still not a way for the automotive manufacturer to reveal any updates about its discussion with Apple.
"We are agonizing over how to do it, whether it is good to do it or not. We are not a company which manufactures cars for others. It is not like working with Apple would always produce great results," an executive from Hyundai said.
No one knows when will Apple publicize its relationship with Hyundai, but if it will happen, there could be a conflict that might emerge. The possibility of handing the partnership to Kia Motors could be now approaching since a huge stake of it is owned by Hyundai.
What will happen in 2024?
In a citation report by Mac Rumors, Hyundai and Apple could agree with the Apple Car deal in March, which was originally reported by Reuters earlier this month.
The two companies might reach an agreement that Kia Motors will be assigned for the manufacturing of the electric cars, the Korea IT News reported. In addition, Apple car's "beta version" could appear by 2022.
In December 2020, it was reported that the US company may begin Apple car production in 2024. However, Bloomberg announced that the said production is "nowhere near production stage," and the possible release date could be around five to seven years from now.
In 2017, Apple CEO Tim Cook admitted that they have been constructing a possible Apple car. This was the not first time that Cook revealed Apple's interest to build a car. The first was in 2014 when Cook was rumored to finally approve the Apple electric car project.
