This Apple Service Makes iMessage Vulnerable, What You Need to Do

Apple's iMessage is currently one of the most secure message apps you can use if you have an iPhone. This kind of app is currently important since there are several applications that can't be trusted because of their user data sharing policies.

The said issue is also one of the main reasons why many users are now looking for alternative apps that they can use to replace the applications they no longer feel safe to access. However, security researchers said that enabling iCloud could still make your iMessage app vulnerable.

How To Geek reported that iMessage is currently using end-to-end encryption to send and receive messages. This is currently one of the best security features since it ensures you that only the messenger and the receiver are the ones that can see their conversation online.

iMessage also encrypts all of its photos, files, and videos. On the other hand, Apple's FaceTime service also uses an end-to-end encryption feature. Now, how would iCloud make iMessage vulnerable?

iCloud service doesn't have an E2E encryption feature

Security experts explained that Apple's iCloud doesn't use end-to-end encryption features. If the user enables this service, it will make a secure app vulnerable.

Apple is allegedly receiving users a key copy of their encrypted backup when iCloud is activated. This means that Apple employees can easily see the messages on your iMessage even if your conversations are properly encrypted. On the other hand, if the tech giant's servers were compromised, the company's developers can see the contents of your messages.

This goes the same way if someone was able to gain access to your iCloud account. If you don't want this to happen, all you need to do is disabling your iCloud service on iMessage. You can do this by going to the Settings option and click the iCloud section. Just deselect the apps that you don't want iCloud to access.
