Jimmy "MrBeast" Donaldson, a Youtube sensation, has yet again gone viral after announcing that he would be taking messages from his fans and will literally send them to the moon after using his wealth to buy space in a NASA rover.
MrBeast Going To the Moon: Will Send Your Message to the Moon
According to Dexerto, MrBeast made the announcement on his official Twitter account on Sunday, January 24, 2021.
The tweet said: "Later this year NASA is putting a rover on the moon and I managed to buy storage space on it. I thought it'd be fun to let you guys put whatever you want on the moon lol."
However, it seems like the tweet had been deleted as of writing, but the Youtube personality did send out another post simply saying: "For $10 I'll put whatever picture you want, on the moon," which is then accompanied by a link to his online shop.
MrBeast has also made a video to announce the project, but the video appears to be unlisted.

Making the First Digital Time Capsule
But basically, anyone who wants to send their own message to the moon can do so by either sending a photo or a video to MrBeast.
The catch? Each photo/video you send costs $10.
Moreover, the videos can only be one second long, most likely to save some space and give more chance to people who want to leave their mark on the moon.
But the online celebrity guaranteed his fans that everyone who decides to join and send him something to take to the moon will receive a certificate of authenticity so they can "prove to people that you literally put something on the moon."
According to MrBeast, he wanted to make the world's first digital time capsule, thus the project.
Anything can be sent to MrBeast and to the moon, as long as it's legal, from images of themselves, their family members, their cats and dogs, the most ridiculous meme, and even their favorite celebrity--the possibilities are endless.
How to Enter
If you want to join in helping "preserve humanity," here's what you need to do:
First, go to MrBeast's official website, which is also linked on his Twitter post, and then choose the bundle that you want.
There are three options: the cheapest is the $10 option that will send your photos or videos to the moon, the next is the mid-tier option available for $42, where you can send a photo or video, and get an exclusive MrBeast t-shirt.
The last option is the most expensive at $69, allowing you to send a photo or a video of your choice and get an exclusive MrBeast hoodie.
Once you've chosen the bundle you want and paid for it, you can upload your photo or video--and that's it! Everything that is sent to MrBeast will be loaded into a "moon-ready" hard drive, which will then be sent to NASA to load onto the rover that will be sent to our nearest neighbor.
As per MrBeast's website, the project will end after 34 days (as of writing), so get your slot while you can!
