Ifixit might still currently have their hands full from all of the backlog of products to gracefully teardown but the PBK Reviews, much fortunately, lost no time when it came to poking inside the newest Samsung gadget. However, it seems like the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra teardown gave unsatisfactory results.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra review (inside)
According to the article by SlashGear, while the Samsung Galaxy S21 might have proved to be quite a pleasant surprise in a couple of ways, particularly known for its own modularity and the screen is also relatively easier to repair. The particular YouTuber now even takes the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra apart even with some optimism. Unfortunately, they were reportedly met with some disappointment.
With such a fully glass back, opening the device was said to be unsurprisingly effort consuming as well as risky compared to the said Samsung Galaxy S21 and even its plastic rear. Once finally inside, the plethora of screws as well as cable clips will make the process a very demanding chore. Then again, it might also have been worse if the things were all soldered down instead so this is still considered a plus.
Disappointments with the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra teardown
There were a few disappointments mentioned in the Slashgear article regarding the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Here they are:
Battery
The supposed battery of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra was found to be a bit stickier compared to its budget version. Although this might not have a direct effect on performance, it comes off rather messy. In addition to the heat that is applied to the screen found underneath the battery, the said technician still needed alcohol to loosen up the adhesive's tight grip.
This, in itself, makes replacing certain parts really difficult. However, this is not the only disappointing thing found when opening the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
Screen
Also quite unlike the previous Galaxy S21, the new Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra's screen cable is said to be indeed soldered instead of being clipped. This makes the replacement a little more difficult and also more expensive.
It was found that the front-facing camera was glued to the screen. However, quite surprisingly, the phone's flex cable used for the volume rocker button was found to also run between both the midframe aswell as the screen. This makes the task quite unnecessarily risky.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 teardown also notes a number of other odd differences that can be seen between both the Galaxy S21 compared to the Galaxy S21 Ultra. This includes the absence of sound-amplifying foam balls expected on the top of the speaker of the newer Galaxy S21 Ultra.
It also revealed that the visible new camera bump is just made from metal and simply glued towards the glass back instead of securely lodged.
