Square Off Announces New Products, Delivery Plans at CES 2021

Square Off, creators of "the world's smartest chessboard," has announced its latest products at the all-digital CES 2021, including the world's first-ever rollable chess computer.

The former recipient of CES Top Tech & Innovation awards have showcased their flagship products at the event. Aside from the rollable chess computer, Square Off also took the opportunity to reintroduce its revolutionary products: Neo and Swap.

The First Rollable Chess Computer, Plus Neo and Swap

The new Square Off product revealed in the digital Consumer Electronics Show is a highly portable and globally connected rollable chessboard that allows players to play against its built-in AI or even anyone across the globe. According to the smart chessboard manufacturer, they are looking for a March 2021 release - offering a novel board for chess players - professionals and enthusiasts - in a game-changing chessboard.

Aside from the new rollable chessboard, Square Off also took the opportunity to announce its two other products: Square Off New and Swap. Officially launched in October 2021, the company announced at the CES 2021 stage that the products' early supporters, its crowdfunding backers, will be receiving the highly-anticipated boards by June this year.

Swap is an automated device that houses multiple board games, letting its players enjoy chess, as well as draughts (checkers), Halma, and Connect 4, all on a single board. On the other hand, Neo is a light and portable chess partner, perfect for quick games on the go anytime, anywhere. These two revolutionary board games were able to raise more than one million dollars from more than 5,700 supporters across different crowdfunding platforms. Following the release of the Swap and Neo for the crowdfunding backers, Square Off is looking to release them for the general market before the year ends.

Square Off's Plans to Deliver, Announced at CES 2021

"Square Off is all set to revolutionize board gaming across the globe and 2021 looks very exciting," says Square Off co-founder and CEO Bhavya Gohil at their CES 2021 stage. "We are working round the clock to deliver Neo & Swap to our backers at the earliest. The portable and globally connected rollable chess computer would revive how chess is played."

Atur Mehta, company CTO, added the rich variety of features that they have lined up for their players, further broadening their horizons and improving their overall experience. One is the integration of Lichess - the free online chess server and open-source app for mobile devices - with Square Off, further expanding the chess player database by getting access to more than 70 million chess aficionados around the world.

Their products are making waves across the chess community, pioneering the realm of interactive digital board gaming: introducing automated piece movements, an adaptive and growing AI challenger, and global connectivity. Additionally, Square Off is also looking at a personalized coaching feature to guide new players to develop its strategies.

Tracing its origins back to 2016, Square Off harnessed the power of telerobotics - a semi-automatic technology that has found applications in the fields of medicine and engineering - to deliver the first interactive chessboard that allows global matchmaking. Since then, the Mumbai, India-based tech start-up has grown to be the world leader in innovating not just the millennia-old chess, but also its countless variants.
