Ever since WhatsApp has rolled out its brand new terms of service, the company ahs been caught up in a whirlwind. The change of its policies have caused a massive exodus as users are now flocking to alternative apps.

According to an article by AndroidPolice, while WhatsApp looks like it is losing its ground in major markets all around the world, the Facebook-owned messenger service have pushed back the deadline for users to forcefully accept the new terms or have their accounts terminated. The company is now actively seeking to control the huge damage that this announcement has caused them.

Here are the things WhatsApp is doing to try to gain back their users.

1. WhatsApp released a message to its users that they do not read users chats or that they listen to calls and that it also does not share contacts with Facebook.

2. WhatsApp promises that it "respects and protects" users' privacy. However, the company has reportedly lost over a hundred of thousand dollars in the Indian market which is currently a strong user base, according to an article by Reuters.

3. WhatsApp promises that the new policy does not actually affect users privacy when it comes to friends and family. However, it does not address the topic of the amount of metadata that it collects.

4. WhatsApp posts on Deccan Herald, Business Line, and other newspapers that it protects user data and respects their privacy.

Is WhatsApp a dangerous App?

Despite the efforts being made by WhatsApp, it is still seen that the app is losing its massive user base as a lot of its users now flock to both Telegram and Signal over the course of just a couple of days. Although the announcement just recently came out, it looks like the damage that it caused was substantial.

When the whole news broke out regarding WhatsApp's new policy, the recent richest man in the world, Elon Musk, who had just taken over Jeff Bezos, suggested that users "use Signal." This single tweet was very timely as Elon Musk had just become the richest man in the world which meant that a lot of attention was being given to everything that the billionaire said.

Aside from Elon Musk, privacy enthusiast and high-profile security figure Edward Snowden had also promoted the use of Signal.
