Tim Cook finally comes out and faces certain questions regarding Parler's suspension from the Apple App Store and if there was a possibility that the app could ever come back. The answers coming from Tim Cook come from his position as the Apple chief executive.

Why is Apple removing Parler?

According to the story by Mashable, Tim Cook noted that they have only suspended Parler on a statement he gave during a recent Fox News Sunday interview that he had with Chris Wallace. He then stated that if the app will be able to get their moderation together, they would then be back on them.

The comment was a response to some of the direct questioning regarding Apple's decision last January 9 to boot Parler straight out of the App Store. The controversial app was given a 24-hour grace period by Apple to clean up its own act of lacking content moderation, according to an article by CNN. Parler was then removed.

Parler app shut down

Cook was reportedly fast to defend Apple's main decision to suspend the app when Wallace wondered whether or not the move amounted to a certain restriction of free speech. He then stated that they have an App Store containing about 2 million apps within it. He also noted that they have terms of service for these particular apps.

Tim Cook then noted that obviously, they do not control what is going on in the internet, but they have never really taken the view that their own platform should just be a simple replication of the entire internet. He then noted that they have rules and regulations and that they just ask the people involved to abide by those given rules.

Parler ban

Parler then got the boot shortly after the team looked at the particular incitement to violence present. Apple also does not see an intersection cross between rhetoric and free speech. Although the legal definition of "incitement" is actually quite narrow, Apple can still make whatever choice they decide to make for the total health of its business.

It also recently came out that Parler's whole posting history has actually been archived. This would include certain posts that had specifically been deleted. A major reason for that is due to the platform in itself, which, according to Mashable's very own Matt Binder, is actually "poorly coded."

Does Amazon host Parler?

It could also be that in addition to the current moderation issue that Parler needs to address, there could also be a top-to-bottom rebuild that could happen in order to ensure better privacy for its users. This could be quite risky for certain users that would supposedly say something that could be used as an incriminating statement later on. As of the moment, it is still unseen what Parler's next moves are aside from moving to Epik after Amazon Web Services decided to stop hosting them.
