YouTube is now reportedly testing a brand new feature that could allow viewers to see a certain list of products by clicking a simple shopping bag icon that would later on appear in YouTube videos.

According to an article by PocketNow, in what can easily be called taking a note coming from Instagram's own books, YouTube is now experimenting along with a brand new feature that will allow its viewers to purchase the products that can be seen in the video. The company is now testing the brand new shopping trick among still a smaller circle of users over in the US market on its popular Android and iOS app. This feature is also being reportedly tested on the desktop as well.

As per YouTube's official support page, the company is now testing a brand new way for people to simply discover and also purchase certain products that can be featured in certain YouTube videos. The creators in this particular pilot can now add certain products to their own videos.

Viewers can view a list of certain featured products by simply clicking the certain shopping bag icon located on the bottom left corner of the YouTube video. From there, the viewers will be able to explore each product's own page to see even more information, related videos, as well as purchase options for the particular product.

YouTube has now begun testing out a similar feature back in April called the "products in video" that was actually supposed to show certain products that were shown within a video. The icon comes along with new visual elements like the icon overlay along with the product name as well as including other key details about the product.

As per the Bloomberg report, Google had even started asking certain creators to use its very own in-house system in order to tag and track products that are shown in the videos. These particular tools will also be linked with the data coming from analytics and shopping tools that are provided by Google.

Back in December, the particular YouTube app had started testing out the new feature called Shorts icon which is located in the top/bottom row allowing users to quickly view some of the YouTube Shorts. As mentioned some time earlier, this brand new product shopping tool is considered a close circle experimental feature.

This would mean that it will still be visible to only a few number of users as of the moment. Also, the brand new shopping feature is now part of what the whole company calls the YouTube feature experience which will involve the testing of new tools for just a very short span of time. Despite the testing, the article by PocketNow still notes that it is also quite likely that this particular feature might even never be released widely.
