Sony's latest Vision-S Sedan concept is now running on public roads as the company conducts its first actual test. During the latest CES, the tech giant company confirmed that it already began the road test last month of December 2020.
Sony said that it took the car on a trip through Australia. Although the footage didn't show much information about what the new vehicle offers, it is still clear the Vision-S will have modern features.
According to TechCrunch's latest report, the company released two YouTube videos, showing that the prototype was driven on a private track until it reaches the public roads in Australia.
Sony Vision-S Sedan's features
The Next Web reported that Sony's new car would have 33 sensors. These include LiDar, CMOS, and ToF (Time of Flight).

The company also explained that all the sensors would work together to support a host of Level 2 driver aids. However, it was later revealed that the number of sensors increased to 40. Although this is the case, the company didn't specify what those extra sensors would be.
Sony also did not clarify the sensors' functions. On the other hand, the new vehicle is expected to have a software-first design, as well as an immersive audio experience.
Vision-S Sedan can reach 60mph in 5 seconds
Sony said that the new Vision-S can reach 60 mph in less than five seconds. The company's new product has two motors that deliver over 560 hp.
However, these are only stats that the company revealed. Sony still hasn't confirmed other important details such as the sedan's size, price, charging time, and release date.
But, the giant manufacturer's other partners said that they are looking forward to bring the new vehicle to the market as soon as possible. It is important to remember that the car is still a prototype.
This means that it is not the final look. If the product is still a prototype, the company is still working on it since it has lots of bodywork coverings and temporary fittings. These parts are only there so that Sony could conduct a test run.
Although this is the case, the car still looks cool in its grey camouflaged design. Sony and Apple is among the gadget manufacturers that are transitioning to making electric vehicles and other types of cars.
