As of the moment, it might be incredibly problematic for gamers to get their hands on the next-gen console, the PlayStation 5. However, since it has already officially launched and as of the moment does not really host any exclusive games, it looks like PS5 is going to change this by bringing back a certain popular PS1 and PS2 series for the PS5 itself.

Tenchu: shadow assassin

According to the story by ComicBook, it was stated in a certain issue of the popular Weekly Famitsu that there is a certain interview along with Takuma Endo, the company's president of Acquire, the certain developer that is behind the Techu IP. The interview notes that Endo seemingly teases the actual revival of a certain series on the PS5.

More specifically, it was actually revealed by Endo that he would generally like to create a brand new "Tenchu" game all the way from the ground up for the new PS5 itself. To make the story more interesting, Endo even notes that right now this is quite difficult and still relies on the general possibility that is arising in the very first place. Unfortunately, for those "Tenchu" fans, it is still quite a non-committal statement coming from Endo as to whether or not this will happen. However, it is also still pretty unclear as to why someone would tease a revival if he actually did not think that this was possible.

Elsewhere during the interview, Endo actually confirms the specific "Stealth Assassin" trademark that was previously registered back in 2018 was simply because of the fact that the trademark had expired. In other words, despite the whole speculation at the time that seemed to suggest as much, it was still not indicative of the brand new Techu game currently being in development, according to IGN.

For those that might not actually know, the rights to the "Tenchu" game were originally owned by none other than Sony, but then they were passed onto another company, Activision, who officially owned the IP up until 2004 when the company FromSoftware had acquired it. Unfortunately, for those fans of this particular series, FromSoftware seems to have not done quite much with this particular IP. In fact, the company has reportedly done nothing with it ever since 2009 up to 2019.

Tenchu 2021

With the help of Activision, it had actually released "Sekiro, Shadows Die Twice", which actually wore its own "Tenchu" inspiration up on its sleeve. As of the moment, however, there still is not a lot of information for "Tenchu" fans to chew on but this is also more likely due to the fact that when "Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice" was initially revealed, a lot of gamers actually thought of it as a "Tenchu" game when it was not. This confusion has kept gamers slightly more entertained while "Tenchu" seems to be going nowhere. Maybe things will turn around?
