With the pandemic or not, some people are thinking as to whether or not to celebrate New Year's eve this year with all the regulations and things just not being the same. On midnight of December 31, 2020 will finally end and 2021 will finally begin and there are actually a few virtual new year's eve parties that are free to join online, according to lifehacker.
Although most fireworks 2020 are cancelled. According to an article by The Sun, the 2020 London Eye fireworks for New Year's eve has been cancelled this year.
This 2020 new year's eve doesn't have to be a "silent night" with these virtual new year's eve parties:
1. Times Square ball drop
The popular Times Square New Year's eve ball drop is still happening this year and although it won't be open to the public like before where everyone can simply come and join, there will still be quite a show to happen. Oh yeah, performances will include Gloria Gaynor singing the unofficial anthem of 2020 known as "I Will Survive" to start at 6PM EST.
2. Hogmanay
Every new year, this particular party takes place over in Edinburgh, Scotland. This celebration is called "Hogmanay" which is the Scottish name for the new year celebrations. This will show massive fireworks, music, and even cultural events and also an appearance from David Tennant better known as Dr. Who.
3. Las Vegas explosion
Want to end 2020 with a bang? This live stream event will be blowing up a gigantic 2020 sign just before midnight. For those who aren't much into festivities and just want to blow up 2020, this might be the perfect event for you!
4. Snoop Dogg's Virtual New Year's Eve Special
Snoop Dogg is planning a little new year's eve surprise of his own with Jennifer Nettles, Cody Rhodes, Rosario Dawson, and of course, Snoop Doggy-Dogg himself! There's also going to be surprise cameos from Snoop's friends and the event is expected to start at 11PM EST on December 31.
5. Sober New Year's Eve
The people behind the Sober Grid app, which is an app that works by connecting users with other people that are trying to recover from substance abuse, are hosting their own New Year's Eve gathering! This virtual event will take place from 7PM up to 4AM EST! In order to join, participants will have to click the Zoom link in the title and use this Meeting ID: 2533660083.
