Intel now looks like it's finally testing out more and more surrounding its future Rocket Lake processors as AMD has been all around the media becoming a nastier and nastier competition. Engineering samples have been spotted showing the Intel Core i9-11900K that was found in an unlocked B560 Motherboard!
Is Core i9 overkill?
The future Rocket Lake processors found in the engineering samples have reportedly been spotted by the account @harukaze5719 on Twitter. This insight even included the flagship Core i9-11900K, which is supposedly a much higher clocked i9-11900 and even a new i7-11700. However, the best news could possibly be that Intel has finally unlocked the B560 motherboard to allow it to go full overclock, according to the story reported by Tom's Hardware.
Previously, Intel's more lowered-priced B series of the motherboard chipset were technically always locked to prevent the user from overclocking their own CPUs and memory. Instead, users had to hike up and even grab the pricier Z series board in order to unlock those particular features. Fortunately, though, it now looks like everything will change with the Rocket Lake along with its associated 500 series chipboards. Harukaze 5719 was reportedly able to run a certain 4133MHz XMP profile on the alleged B560 motherboard on a new Core i9-11900K and the Core i9-11900. Both of them were reportedly engineering samples.
Intel Core i9-11900K vs Ryzen 5 5600X
This is also reportedly the very first time that the top-end Core i9-11900K engineering sample was spotted out in the wild. According to the Twitter account Harukaze579, the said chip has its own base frequency of a massive 4.3ghz and even a turbo clock of a whopping 4.8ghz. This is definitely promising because of its core frequencies being high on the engineering sample. Users might be able to see some more high turnbo clocks on this official SKUs.
Harukaze5719 reportedly also shared a certain Cinebench R20 score for yet another Rocket Lake SKU, the pretty respected Core i7-11700, which reportedly has its own base clock of 3.8Ghz along with a massive 4.3Ghz boost. It also scored a pretty decent multi-thread score of a whopping 4672 points and also 529 points in just a single-thread benchmark. To compare, the new multi-thread score also managed to beat the massive Ryzen 5 5600X by barely just a few hundred points.

Intel VS AMD
However, the said single-core is still much more favorable in comparison to the Intel core i7-11700 which managed to beat Intel's own core i9-10900K Comet Lake-S SKU. The article then noted that 2021 might be a pretty interesting year for Intel as it is making more moves to go head on with AMD. It seems like the competition is now forcing out Intel's hand in now allowing its popular B series boards to overclock. This is something that AMD has been doing ever since the 1st Gen Ryzen.
