'Devil May Cry 5': Easter Eggs and Things You May Have Missed on Your First Playthrough

Released in 2019, "Devil May Cry 5" was highly-acclaimed and well-received by critics and gamers. It has been re-released as an expanded edition "Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition" which adds Vergil as a playable character. There are also new game modes, enhanced visuals for the new-gen consoles and other features.

Whether you played the gone during its original release, or you are only just getting to grips with it through the new Special Edition, there is bound to be some interesting things that you may not have noticed about the game.

Dante And Cerberus

In the game, Dante met King Cerberus. He ridiculed him, called him a puppy and offered to take him for a walk while beckoning to him. But all of these are a throwback to an earlier "Devil May Cry" title.

In "Devil May Cry 3," Dante encounters a small boss called Cerberus where he does the exact same thing. He clapped his hands to call it over and said he will take it for a walk. He acknowledges this by saying he remembered a "stinky pooch" just like King Cerberus.

Ebony And Ivory

The famous guns of Dante are called Ebony and Ivory, one is black and the other is white. The guns are custom-made. Ebony is made for long-distance range, while Ivory was made for rapid firing.

The game featured the two guns and emphasized on how different they are from one another. During the end scene, it can be seen that the bullets from each gun are different, one is a steel-cored armor-piercing bullet and the other is a hollow point with polymer insert.

William Blake Connection

There are numerous references to William Blake within the game, in fact the character V carries a book of William Blake's poetry. Many of V's lines are lifted from Blake's poetry.

But what not a lot of people may realize is that Nico also has her own reference to the famous poet in the form of a tattoo. On her ribs, gamers can see Blake's Eternity poem.

Nico's Stutter

Nico is a new character introduced in the gam in order to fulfill the role of a supporting character for Nero. When Nico meets Dante, she stutters in places when talking to him, and while some might put this down to nerves, it is actually another throwback to an earlier storyline.

In the 4th installment of the game, Nico's father, Agnus, was featured. Agnus has a stutter and it is evident when he talked. Though Nico does not follow her father's footsteps and is a protagonists, her saying that she only received her looks from her father, shows she may have inherited more from him.

Urizen's True Identity

Before the true identity of Urizen was revealed in the game, there are many hints as to who he is. Urizen's arms resemble Nero's Devil Bringer arm.

During the prologue where Dante is fighting Urizen, Urizen is reflected in Dante's eyes in one scene. This is in reference to a similar scene from "Devil May Cry 3" where Dante is fighting Vergil, and Vergil is reflected in his eye.
