Getting in on the Instagram game early offered tremendous opportunities if you had an entrepreneurial mindset. That's what 13-year-old Nathan Johnson did, and today he lives off the success he has had since then.
Even though he was a young kid, Nathan understood the value of having a big influence online. He saw popular pages thatseemed to be enjoying all sorts of success, including financial. That's why he decided to create several different Instagram pages and start churning our content people wanted to engage with. Pretty soon, this strategy started paying off. When he was still 13, a company called Amp Me paid him $100 for him to make a post for them on one of his IG pages. This was the moment that would cement all of his future success.
However, since he was very young, he would have to convince his somewhat-suspicious mom that this was a legitimate transaction. He received the news about the paid promotion while at the airport, where he was flying back from Michigan to Texas. He showed the exciting news to his mom, showing her that he did actually get $100 sent to his PayPal. However, his mother Melanie was concerned this was all a scam. Thankfully, she quickly realized that it wasn't, and started getting involved in what became a new business Nathan had started. In fact, she is now his key mentor. His father, Doug, who was a successful TV station owner before retiring, has also taken on a major role in Nathan's business.
Knowing the tools, tips, and strategies to succeed on Instagram isn't enough to unlock immense success. You need to align your passion with what you do. Nathan believes that to enjoy real success, you need to be both happy and free. Happiness comes from doing something you love and enjoy. For Nathan, it was creating themed Instagram pages. Freedom comes from turning your passion into a business that rewards you financially. Once you have all of your needs met, you feel empowered to take on more risks, enjoy life, and help others more.
Nathan's girlfriend, Ryan Donovan, has also had a significant impact on how he views success. Nathan used to believe success only meant having money. However, he soon realized that it also involves having authentic and genuine people in your life who show you what real happiness is. Doing what makes you happy is the most significant factor in Nathan's success, which is why it's something he emphasizes that others could do to enjoy their own success.
As 20-year-old Nathan looks to the future, he seems himself continuing to grow his social media followings across the multiple pages he manages. He believes that whatever he will end up doing, he will be working as hard as possible and making as much as he can. Ideally, he seems himself having a network of 40 million followers on social media, and using that success to build a company that helps prominent corporations place, design, and execute social media ads that are massively successful.
