Apple Watch Thick 'WristCam' Band Comes with Shutter Button for Photos and Videos—$200 Christmas Gift?

A new band for the popular Apple Watch series is released by a company called "WristCam," It would be intended to capture photos and videos efficiently using its built-in dual cameras and its actual shutter button. No, This would not only be a remote control for the Apple Watch to shoot from afar; instead, it will be an actual device, right on your wrist.

The startup company, WristCam, also calls its new device with the same name, is made explicitly for the Apple Watch to give birth to new features and functions that do not limit to a remote iPhone camera shutter function. The new Apple Watch band will be a device on its own, bringing new smartwatch technology features.

Sure, the most valuable technology company launched a fairly advanced smartwatch with the Apple Watch Series 6 last September 15 on the "Time Flies" Fall event. However, who knew that there could be more to it by just attaching new accessories from third-party manufacturers?

According to Mashable, the new WristCam band comes with a flat and a thick side that holds the rear camera and shutter button on the opposite side, while there would be a dedicated front-facing camera parallel to the watch. The WristCam comes with dual-camera technology for rear shooting and a selfie-capturing feature.

The new Apple Watch band features the technology of early smartphones that had a front and rear camera setup, along with the device that controls it. The band's design is relatively thick because of the new additions, mainly because of the latest cameras and concealed battery that is said to last all day.

WristCam's new band for the Apple Watch was developed for four years until its release only this year, December 2020. Moreover, the venture started as a crowdfunding campaign that launched a new company to mass develop the WristCam Band for the Apple Watch line.

WristCam: Features and Specifications

WristCam holds an advanced model with good specifications and features right on its belt, or in this case, its band. Aside from photos and videos, the thick band can also be used for video calls right on the Apple Watch.

The new Apple accessory contains a "world-facing" rear camera capable of capturing eight (8) megapixel photos and videos with a surrounding microphone and led light. The back camera side is also where its built-in battery is concealed, along with a sleek "quick-shutter" button for manual and physical control. Additionally, the rear camera can capture 4K photos.

Parallel to the watch is the front-facing camera that is slightly smaller compared to the rear camera. The "self-facing" camera sports a two (2)-megapixel lens that can capture photos and videos with the Apple Watch. The captured images and videos would directly upload to a linked iPhone or iPad device with the Apple Watch's Camera app.

WristCam features five colorways for its bands and can be reserved on its website for a January delivery. Sadly, the new band could only be a late Christmas gift.
