Ubisoft added two next-generation versions of the game with the recent "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" Patch 1.04 that was released on Friday, November 26.
While the game versions for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PS5 and fixed some old issues, it appears the patch created new problems, particularly in the PS5 version, according to Game Rant. Please take note that the patch only covered "the most notable changes."
'Assassin's Creed Valhalla' Patch 1.04
After the game's release in October, "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" received positive reception from fans and even critics. American Film Director John Carpenter also praised the gameplay and massive open world, which he regarded as the "return to excellence in the franchise." However, numerous technical issues have been plaguing the game.
Thus, Ubisoft rolled out patch notes for "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" Patch 1.04 update on November 26, which fixed some issues and added vital features on the game. The most notable change is the addition of two graphical modes: the performance mode that allows the game to reach 60 FPS target or the graphics mode, which prioritized resolution but at lower 30FPS. Another key feature is being able to switch between modes.
'Assassin's Creed Valhalla' PS5 Issues
The patch was expected to fix some major technical issues in the Xbox Series X version, particularly the screen tearing. Yes, it was fixed for some as others are still reporting to continue experience the problem. Also, the Xbox Series S version received a more stable 60 FPS mode.
Unfortunately, the patch has led to some concerning issues in PS5 version, which affected the game's optimization. According to some ResetEra members, as reported by Game Rant, the FPS in PS5 performance mode has dropped down to 40.
The PS5 version was much better optimized and more stable before the fix, which made the fans baffled as the developer did not offer any explanation as why it happened. This led John Linneman of Digital Foundry advising PS5 users not to update their game as they are the most affected by the patch. Ubisoft has yet to comment on this new issue.
Meanwhile, the version 1.4 also supposedly fixes the save file issue that had plagued "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" since its launch though players have yet to report on how that has panned out.
Since October when Ubisoft revealed its plans to combine its Ubisoft Club and Uplay services Ubisoft Connect, the developer has launched its cross-progression and cross-play services complete with the arrival of "Assassin's Creed Valhalla." This broke boundaries across all applicable platforms as players could resume the game in any accepted platform using their saves.
However, cross-platform players complain to have been experiencing issues with trophies and achievements in Xbox and PlayStation. Also, numerous players reported in a Reddit thread the issues they have with unlocking achievements on Xbox, which seem to be not connected to cross-platform saves. While the cause of this bug that kills achievement is still unclear, other bugs are being linked to the cross-platform saves feature.
