U.K. government announced that it will allow the residents to form a group of three households and there will be no member limit! The country's plan is called the "Christmas COVID Bubble."
BBC News reported that once the members of each home, places of worship, or other groups joined together, they can't visit pubs or restaurants together. This is why the officials advised the families and relatives to think carefully before they decide who they will include or join.
Boris Johnson decided to implement this to keep the risk of increased transmission as low as possible since Christmas is just right around the corner. The government officials want to allow the residents to see each other, but in a limited and cautious way.
Christmas Bubble rules
To help you understand Christmas COVID Bubble, here are the rules and regulations you need to know.
- Students are included in one household to which they have returned.
- Only one household will be allowed to make a bubble with a care home resident who is allowed to leave their home. People of working age are the only ones allowed to visit out of care homes.
- Separated parents can include their children as part of their own Christmas Bubble, separately. However, the child should be 18 years old.
- People who formed a Christmas Bubble can still meet other families and friends according to the rules in the tier they live in.
Experts claim Boris Johnson's decision is a mistake
According to News Sky's latest report, scientists, doctors, and other experts in the hospitality industry claim that Boris Johnson's plans are a mistake.
"This virus does not discriminate against certain days of the year," said Dr. Chaand Nagpaul, British Medical Association UK council chair via News Sky.
"Relaxing the rules on indoor mixing for a five-day period will almost certainly carry the risk of a rise in infection rate," he added.
Nagpaul also explained that the Christmas COVID Bubble could also lead to hospitalizations and even deaths. These scenarios could put more pressure on doctors, health service, and NHS staff.
