"NBA 2K21" is debuting a new single-player career mode that features the widely-popular WNBA league with women leading the charge on "The W" for limited gameplay only. The professional women's league of America's basketball is making its much-awaited debut with WNBA now seeing a career mode on Visual Concept's game.
The next-generation American basketball game, "NBA 2K21," is leading the charge on sports titles that are readily available for new consoles from Microsoft and Sony to offer unparalleled gaming experience. "2K21" is made specifically for the next-generation console and optimizes itself to match PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X's performance.
'NBA 2K21': 'The W' Game Mode will feature all-out WNBA Madness
According to Polygon, the new game mode would not merely be a "reskin" of the current NBA 2K21 or a copycat of the existing gameplay. Instead, it would be a league of its own, featuring the popular names and elements that can only be seen on the women's basketball league of America.
"The W" game targets the single-player career mode that is also known as "MyWNBA," featuring a customizable woman avatar to customize and incorporate on the existing teams in the league. Twelve teams can be chosen from and up for grabs, featuring all of the real-life teams in WNBA.
The new "The W" mode resembles the "MyGM" career mode that is popular in NBA "2K" titles that follow a specific storyline or plot. Gamers would be able to manipulate the story by deciding for their avatars that play the part of a professional WNBA basketball player.
The new game mode and career gameplay were initially revealed several months ago, in August, teasing a development for the "2K21" that would launch alongside the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The next-generation consoles are now met with the next-gen game mode on "NBA 2K21" featuring a new breed of players.
'The W': Brand New Experience on its own WNBA League
According to AU Review, "NBA 2K21's" Executive Producer Erick Boenisch regards WNBA as its own league that offers a new experience for all gamers through the "MyWNBA" and "The W" game mode. The new integration of WNBA opens up more wonders when playing "2K21."
The developers of "NBA 2K21" boasts that this game would have its own "entity" in the game, setting it apart from the mainstream success and designation of the regular NBA ball game. Boenisch regards "NBA 2K21" to not only promote basketball but also grows the experience of fans globally.
The current "2K21" would be the stepping stone of WNBA and women's basketball to the global audience. The game would be limited-plot gameplay from Visual Concepts Entertainment but would offer an immersive new experience in the world of WNBA.
There is still no news regarding a new WNBA game that would take a title of its own. For now, Erick Boenisch and the rest of the 2K Team are offering "2K21's" "The W" mode for all women's basketball experience.
