Elon Musk's Tesla Solar Roofs
Over the previous years ever since Tesla has been starting to develop the said solar roof, the company's CEO Elon Musk has been stating that he actually thinks that most roofs seem to look bad and that he would personally love to fix this with new beautiful roofs that are able to generate power.
Tesla's CEO Elon Musk stated that looking around the neighborhood in about a decade from now, it would be ideal to have beautiful roofs capable of generating energy and are also both tough and resilient as well as better in every single way that a regular roof would be except this time with energy.
Mississippi could be first 'smart neighborhood'
Elon Musk then stated that Solar Roof is going to be a killer product. The CEO's vision might actually come true some time soon since Mississippi Power and Southern Company recently announced a new project that will bring the entire neighborhood to be directly powered by the said Tesla solar roofs.
According to an article by electrek, it was stated in a press release that the Mississippi Power and Southern Company announces its partnership to be able to build the very first smart neighborhood in the entire world which will be exclusively featuring the Tesla Solar Roof over in Lauderdale County. The development project is said to be called the Enzor Place and will feature homes not just with Tesla Solar Roof but also said Powerwall batteries, smart home automation, and energy efficient appliances and equipment.
Plan uses Tesla Solar Roof and not SolarCity?
The Mississippi Power CEO and President Anthony Wilson commented that they will use the most advanced technologies in order to offer creative solutions to make their customers' lives much easier every single day. This particular smart neighborhood is now designed to simplify the lives of homeowners and also give them even more control over both their homes and their energy use.
A Tesla Solar roof has already been installed on a house that was built by Habitat for Humanity Home over in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, as an initial test project in order to see just how Tesla's own solar roof tiles will be able to perform in the southeast of Mississippi. The entire Enzor Place neighborhood is said to have an approximate of 45 homes over in Phase 1 but could then grow to a potential 100 to 150 homes when the entire development is completed. The Enzor Place is scheduled to take place in early 2021.
As for SolarCity, an article by PV Magazine details how the current company has five directors all coming from Tesla. The group defended that the price of the acquisition of SolarCity back in 2016 was fair for the shareholders. The acquisition was priced at $2.3 billion with Tesla absorbing $3 billion in debt which was questionable to some but still saw a 10% growth once the news of the acquisition broke out online.
