'Fortnite' Fans Can 'Theoretically' Put Their Expressions on Their Avatars With Epic's New Acquisition

Epic's new acquisition could mean new and good things coming to its popular online battle royale game, "Fortnite," specifically allowing the fans to put their own expressions on their avatars and connect better with their online friends.

Epic buys Hypersense, will Fortnite benefit?

Epic's Acquisition of Hypersense

In a report by The Verge, this all starts with Epic buying the company known as Hypersense, which has a motion capture technology that enables people to put their own facial expressions on digital avatars with just their web camera.

For long-time "Fortnite" fans, the game has become more than just a place where gamers try to outlive each other in a massive battle royale.

Earlier this year, in May, the developers have launched its "violence-free" game mode where players can have tons of fun with a variety of activities without worrying about dying or ranks, and since then, the Party Royale mode has become a social space for the players.

With "Fortnite's" Party Royale mode, the new acquisition of Epic can benefit the players, especially with the lack of expressions and emotes available in-game.

Unfortunately, It's Not for 'Fortnite' Yet

But while the idea is excellent, it doesn't seem like Epic will be including its newly-acquired tech in the game, and according to Epic's chief technology officer Kim Liberi, the Hypersense tech might be for the creators first.

"Bringing on the Hyprsense team enables us to [...] approach the goal of giving all creators full control over expressing their vision down to the smallest nuance," Liberi said.

Hypersense previously launched a beta of the Hypermeet app, which includes their tech. It might not be available now, but it gives Epic fans an idea of what the new tech can do.

As of now, we are uncertain where the tech will pop-up first, but it's no doubt it will be incorporated soon with some of Epic's games and apps, and who knows, it might even become available for "Fortnite" in the future.

New 'Fortnite' Marvel Cup

Speaking of the battle royale game, the players won't be getting a motion-capture tech soon, but they are getting tons of new content.

After the Black Widow Cup, it's now time for the fourth Cup before the highly-anticipated super finale that gives players a chance to get $1 million--but for now, they can practice their skills by getting a higher rank to get the Venom skin.

According to PCGamer, the final Marvel Super Series Cup will commence on November 18, and unlike the first four Cups, "Fortnite" has decided to feature a villain.

Epic hasn't yet fully announced the Venom Cup details, but in context, the most recent Black Widow Cup was a duos tournament, while the Ghost Rider Cup before it was a trios tournament, so the next cup might play with some variation of that.

Furthermore, both previous Cups were done in the Marvel: Knockout mode, where teams will get a set of mirrored superpowers that they will have to use to defeat the enemy teams.

If you haven't had the chance to play the previous Cups featuring Daredevil, Ghost Rider, and Black Widow, you can get the rewards (skins) released in the in-game shop.
