Robots are now becoming more handy, especially since the global COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing. One of these is Telepresence robots, which are changing how people are taking their online classes.
According to Washington Post's latest report, people across the world have to adjust the way they live because of the implemented restrictions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
These bots can help students to feel like they are really going to school during virtual discussions.
"It's really, truly amazing, because it looks like something out of Star Wars, really," said Thomas, one of the students using the Telepresence robot which he calls as techno wizardy.
ICO Today Magazine reported that Telepresence Robots are expected to grow in the coming years, approximately from 2020 until 2025.
What Telepresence robots do
There are many types of Telepresence robots that can perform different tasks. These include the "Owl" and "Swivl," which both have smart videoconferencing computers with speakers and microphones.

They have become popular in K-12 classrooms during the ongoing pandemic, thanks to blended and hybrid learning models.
Telepresence robots are handy compared to standard cameras that only allow people to hear and see each other during a video call.
How Telepresence Robots provide better learning experience
Compared to regular camera models, Telepresence robots can follow the sound and action provided by the operator. They can spin as much as 360 degrees, allowing the students at home to see the classroom more realistically.
Joe Peacock, director of technology at Burgundy Farm, said that they finally found a technology that is more engaging compared to conventional cameras. He added that it feels more natural since the robots can provide you the feeling like you are really sitting inside a classroom.
These bots also allow you to turn your head to hear who is talking, giving you a better learning experience. Because of the robots' unique features, they can help the students to feel and connect more during the virtual classes.
