Skedulo has been quite successful with its Deskless Productivity Cloud which is reportedly the first dedicated, cloud-based solution that aims to empower the organization, management, engagement, and analyzation of the deskless workforce.

The scope is to focus on everyone entirely whether or not the company is working with mobile workers or fixed-location workers. The use of the mobile workforce management software works specifically best in scheduling and work assignments, in the improvement of customer experience, and also in the simplification of a lot otherwise intricate work logistics.

Skedulo will launch its "The 2020 State of Work Report - Defining a New Normal Amid COVID-19" study that provides data on COVID-19's global effect on field workers and their desk-based counterparts. The report is from a web-based survey of 1,336 employees made up of 626 deskless workers, 610 desk-based workers, and 100 IT executives in October 2020 primarily from the U.S., U.K., India and Australia.

TechTimes was given a copy of the report showing a few key findings suggesting COVID-19's negative impact on not just workers' health, but also their job satisfaction and feeling on returning to the office.

The effects of COVID-19 on workers

  • Nearly 1-in-3 deskless workers have themselves or know a colleague who has suffered from COVID-19 as a result of being in the field (31.5%).
  • The majority of workers (60%) feel that work has been more difficult during COVID-19, and this figure is very similar for desk-based workers at 62% and for deskless workers at 58%
  • Fifty one percent of all workers say their job satisfaction has been negatively impacted by COVID-19. Top reasons include more work due to staff reductions (42% for deskless, 47% for desk-based) and not receiving a planned raise or promotion (33% of both).
  • Already, 50% of desk-based workers have returned to the office, with 33% of their companies implementing mandatory requirements to work from the office full-time and 17% part-time. Nearly 2/3rds have concerns about returning to work, which jumps to 75% for those whose company has a mandatory work from the office policy.

Businesses must find ways to support employees and help improve productivity. More employees are returning to the office, and deskless workers serve customers in the field. This calls for the need for tools and technologies that can help employees work more efficiently. Companies and organizations can invest in virtual appointments and service offerings (78%) and messaging tools (72%) for better customer experience.

Tools that are safe and effective can help organizations, IT decision-makers, and individual employees accelerate their digital transformation. This has been a silver lining during the pandemic. Using these technologies does not only aid in productivity and customer service during this challenging time, but this support can continue for the long term. About 32% of employees are optimistic about their jobs due to the technology investments that they are using right now.
