The well-rounded Apple has been making quite a lot of moves lately. The company has just announced that it will be using a different kind of processor for its Mac Pro has been one of its biggest highlights as of recently. Apple has been moving and improving with all of its products and not just in a singular direction.

FDA Approves Apple NightWare Apple Watch app helps treat PTSD-related nightmares

According to an article by Engadget, the Apple Watch might even be the very key to address the nightmare-related sleep issues. This is one of the biggest steps forward for the Apple Watch as it has finally gotten an FDA approval, posted on the official site, to claim that the NightWare, a particular Apple Watch app that comes with its own corresponding iPhone element will be able to help treat certain nightmares that stem from other disorders like PTSD.

The system is said to use the smartwatch motion as well as heart rate data in order to detect whether or not the user is having bad nightmares and the wristwatch will automatically vibrate in response. This is said to arouse the user and not wake the user up in order to interrupt the bad dreams and also maintain sleep.

NightWare is a prescription-only Apple Watch application

NightWare, however, is said to be only prescription-only type of use, and its own eponymous company has also stressed out that this was not an actual standalone treatment. It's just part of the much larger strategy that still includes medication. It then warned against trying the whole Apple Watch therapy if the user is said to "act out" during sleep.

The article stated that there is still no actual guarantee that the said app will work. Although it was stated by the FDA that a conducted study showed much better sleep quality along with the NightWare involved than in a given control group. It's also considered low risk, however, and it might also play a much useful role if the existing treatments are said to be not enough.

The future of smartwatches and the future of the Apple Watch

It was also hinted that in the future, smartwatches won't just be able to track the quality of the users' sleep, but also be able to slowly shape the quality of rest as well. As of the moment, the FDA approval is a very big deal for this specific Apple Watch app.

The Apple Watch has been focused mainly on providing better services as opposed to just focusing on the design and the specs. The smartwatch is owning up to its name with the new NightWare being able to use technology to help improve other struggles like PTSD-related nightmares.
