The PlayStation 5 DualSense controller is compatible with Nintendo's portable and hybrid console, the Switch, with easy steps and integration to use and play. The plug-and-play method would let players control the Nintendo Switch using even other controllers such as the PlayStation's DualShock and Xbox's Wireless Controller.
There is a simpler and cheaper solution for gamers to utilize in looking for a new controller to add to their Nintendo Switch, Windows OS, and macOS gaming needs for extra hands to play. Instead of buying a brand new and original controller from Nintendo, which costs additional, recycle the old consoles to use for your next gameplay.
Nintendo Switch: Buying an Extra Controller is Costly
Nintendo Switch connects its controllers through wireless and magnetic functions, each using a preferred setup like a portable console or hooked to a larger display such as televisions. Users may find the little controllers that come with the Switch to be hard to use, so some opt for a new replacement.
However, looking for a new controller for the Nintendo Switch may be challenging during this pandemic and somewhat costly. Nintendo's shop offers the Pro Controller for $69.99 and the extra JoyCon Controllers for $79.99. That price is high for an extra controller and would lead some to resort to alternatives.
On the other hand, alternatives are not advisable and may affect the gameplay as it is not fully compatible with the console. Twitter user Broken Gamez HDR (@BrokenGamezHDR_) recently posted a video showing how a PlayStation 5 Controller seamlessly connects and works well with the Switch.
How to Connect PS5's Dual Sense to Nintendo Switch
The process is relatively simple and easy to setup. BrokenGamezHDR shows that this plug-and-play method is possible when using different consoles controllers such as the PS5's DualSense. Additionally, PS4's DualShock and even Xbox's Wireless Controllers are available to use for the Nintendo Switch.
Before connecting the DualSense controller, the public should buy 8bitDo's Wireless Bluetooth Adaptor from its website. The adaptor is available for only $19.99, guaranteeing a cross-compatible use of different Bluetooth-enabled controllers to work for the Nintendo Switch.
- Insert the 8bitDo Adaptor to Nintendo Switch's USB Port
- Press the DualSense's PS button for more than five (5) seconds to activate pairing mode
- The DualSense controller would pair automatically with the 8bitDo and would change its color to blue.
Good-bye DualShock, Hello PS5's DualSense
Sony's PlayStation 5 will soon ship out and arrive at the user's doorstep sometime next week but would begin shipping on Thursday, November 12. While players are getting excited about their new consoles' arrival, bad news comes their way as PS5's DualSense controllers cannot play games on the PS4.
According to GameSpot, the DualSense from PS5 can connect to the PS4 console; however, when launching a game, the owner will not be able to move the character or perform any game functions.
The PlayStation 5 is the first console to feature the new name for its controller, which differs from the company's initial four releases. From the first generation PlayStation, controllers were called the "DualShock" and would depend on the console's number for the controller's designation (e.g., PlayStation 4 with DualShock 4).
